Life does that. I went to that one, it was a corker. I don't know where you've moved to in Europe but they are playing in Budapest at the end of September.

It'll be a shame if he's gone, the likes of him, you and a couple of others are my go to for new music.

I don't know, I don't know how much of the music he posts would attract strikes given it's mostly far from mainstream (Do you ever get any?) I suppose one or two of his submissions might raise an eyebrow or two but the vast majority shouldn't.

His replacement channel had been taken down too.

I've only just bought XII: A Gyönyörű Álmok Ezután Jönnek. Ah well, best get my listening head screwed back on again to allow the new one to bed in when it comes out. I'm in Budapest in October, so here's hoping they announce another gig whilst I'm there.

You will never be able to cap your creative talent, if you do you will likely explode. Mind you it would create a nice aurora over Greece.

I had a listen yesterday. It shouldn't grab me but it bloomin' well did.

T'Ogre @macogre.bsky.social · 22/08/2026

I paid a little extra for the extended version. You can't preview the tracks so a bit of a gamble, they don't add anything,a different mood but enjoyable enough.

T'Ogre @macogre.bsky.social · 21/08/2026

I never really liked their early albums but the newer ones have grabbed me. They now do progressive black metal that resonates with me in a way that a band like Enslaved just doesn't.

T'Ogre @macogre.bsky.social · 14/08/2026

I have an 1980ish Discharge Tee somewhere, though it is more of a suggestion of a t-shirt, held together by hope and decades old beer and sweat stains.

T'Ogre @macogre.bsky.social · 14/08/2026

I don't recall that one - Off to check it out!

T'Ogre @macogre.bsky.social · 13/08/2026

I have a couple of their very earliest albums and then broadly forgot about them, although I would dip in to see what they were up to every few years. They were doing the microtonal thing when god was a lad.

The same thing happened to me some years ago. With regard to music, I cast my net further and deeper to see what I could dredge up. I also increased my cycling, which had a positive effect and blew away some cobwebs I wasn't aware of. The downside was that I stopped riding my motorbikes as much.

I never tire of Darkspace.

The warning signs were there with The More I See single but that was inadequate preparation for Grave New World. Ah well, they still produced what is arguably the best punk album ever.

T'Ogre @macogre.bsky.social · 06/06/2026

I bought this when it came out. I don't think I've ever felt so disappointed with an album in my life. It has sat neglected in my collection for the past 40 years, where it will remain until I have turned to dust.

Ah well saves my tinnitus getting worse.

T'Ogre @macogre.bsky.social · 20/05/2026

Have fun! I dipped out in the end, there wasn't quite enough to drag me there from the mountain biking weekend I was invited to. I'll see AFoS later in the year locally. Might have to be Call of the Crows festival instead but that's clashing with another MTB event at the moment.

I'm not a tattoo person but they look great. I was foxed for a while on the second one but even knowing, it doesn't diminish it at all.

T'Ogre @macogre.bsky.social · 14/05/2026

Perfect. Saw them in that there London on Tuesday. Excellent gig. Bought the T-shirt of your tattoo whilst I was there.

T'Ogre @macogre.bsky.social · 13/05/2026

Indeed, I hardly get time to listen to the old stuff with all these young upstarts having the temerity to release new music.

T'Ogre @macogre.bsky.social · 11/05/2026

Ha, we've all got different tastes and that's the beauty of it all. It takes me a while to absorb their albums and so I'm not surprised you struggled with it. I've only bought 3 in total and that'll do me.

Good spot. Loved the last album (Made a video for it too.) I was only on their BC page a few days ago and missed this, so cheers!

avoid Scars of Man and Laurentian Shores. The new one is good, as is Poppies and Uprising just before it.

I would start with Roads the the North and work your way forwards. Most of what goes before is heavily influnced by country. There's plenty of good stuff before then but maybe not worth sifting through. From Roads onwards there is very little country on the Black Metal albums proper. But...

Indeed. Those albums are noticeably absent from my collection.

T'Ogre @macogre.bsky.social · 08/05/2026

I think it depends what Panopticon are playing. A chunk of their catalogue probably wouldn't work for me live but this time it was all fast and atmospheric, which I'll gleefully walk down the street with.

T'Ogre @macogre.bsky.social · 08/05/2026

Indeed, I'm always months behind on most releases bit it adds to the joy of discovery. Saw Panopticon last month. Absolutely superb. (Sunken were supporting and were very good too.)
