Experiments with masking fluid! Top - masked out branch, put down green/yellow blobs of color, used a ruling pen to mask the needles, followed by dark background. Bottom - masked out branch and needs, put down background, added color to needles and branch last. #watercolor #tradtional-art

I do not know how to paint this photo using watercolor where there are lighter elements on top of a dark background. The top attempt was just watercolor. For the bottom attempt I tried to use some gouache for the lighter elements. Neither look very good 😅. #watercolor #gouache #traditional-art

There’s a brick wall in my neighborhood that has a nice contrast between lit and shaded sides when, and I tried painting it. I should try going darker in the shadows next time. #watercolor
