I was preparing the bag I'll be carrying as I bike to Pembo from Caniogan when a delivery man asked me for directions to Rizal High School. I don't live here but I've visited enough times to give him correct directions. But it's another one of those random people asking me for directions moments.

Seeing TOSH again brought back memories of my first corporate job at the Valero area in Makati CBD. I'm glad that the restaurant is still there.

Finally had Iris' handlebar changed from the previous bullhorn into a swept back riser. I've had this replacement handlebar for a long time but I've now accepted how my back doesn't enjoy leaning down too much when cycling. Next goal: update her group set and get a proper re-painting.

I hope I could come across them again soon and would love to hear of their growth.

With the proliferation of superficial, even sketchy, tarot and other spiritual services, and the unfortunate popularity of using AI in occult practices, it's good to meet folks who want to grow into their craft and are willing to put in the work for their practice.

I stressed that a tarot reader should not be carrying remnants of the sessions into their personal lives after the readings. I complimented them for their sincerity and thoughtful approach in their practice.

I disagreed and reminded them to pay more attention to how they are protecting themselves during readings and shared some of the cleansing practices I and other tarot reader friends do to release any lingering energy after reading for clients.

Another thing we touched on is how they admitted that they once experienced a nightmare related to a previous reading and they thought it meant they were doing their practice effectively.

I emphasized that a reader deserves proper compensation for their services and should not undervalue their skill, even in a setting that is more casual.

Of course, quick readings in a pop-up setup will be different from a one-on-one client appointment, but I quoted what a friend mentioned the day before: a short tarot session can use as much personal energy as a longer session.

Based on the types of readings they offered, it also looked like they've put thought and consideration into their practice and wasn't doing it for clout or quick money. In fact, I advised them to consider increasing their rates because they were very much undercharging.

They're in their early 20s but have been studying tarot for 2 years before doing readings professionally, which I thought was good enough preparation before offering professional services.

SKL. I was planning to do tarot readings in my pop-up booth last Sunday but decided not to because I found out there was another tarot reader and it's a very small pop-up market. I did get to meet the tarot reader and chatted with them.

Finally got around to defrosting the blood sausage I bought in Baguio. I decided to stir-fry the sliced sausage with shimeji mushrooms, green peas, and leeks.

I was reviewing my calendar and was confused because I still have a reminder for my anti-rabies shot despite taking the last injection yesterday. And then I realized that I'm scheduled for the 16th, not the 6th. 😭 (I took 4 shots instead of 3 because the cat I accidentally stepped on was a stray.)

Naniniwala ako na who people vote for is more than a result of their individual choices, at may systemic reasons kung bakit nauulit "maling" pagpili sa elected officials. Pero minsan talaga mapapaisip ka (out of frustration and despair) kung dapat ba may qualifying exam muna bago tayo makaboto. 😭

Any kind of art (and tarot reading is an art) requires humanity. A tarot reading requires connection, empathy, experience, and discernment. None of those can be replicated by AI.

A last minute mix-up caused me to lose the hotel booking I made for this weekend (it was my fault, really). So I was forced to book a different hotel for the night. Staying again in a Red Planet hotel room reminded me of the first few months when I moved to Pampanga for my previous job.

I've come to accept that people are now using "ngani" the way people ended their text messages with "lol" But can we at least get the pronunciation right? I grew up hearing my Bicolana mom and aunt pronounce it as "nganì" not "nganeeeeee"

Pay cutoff usually falls on the 5th and 20th when a company schedules their payout every 15/30. Unless they'll only process your first payout if you've already completed 5 working days during the pay period.

Walking back to the apartment last night and seeing the orange gibbous moon ahead of me. The dark sky hides it, but the direction I'm looking at shows the moon above the saddle-shaped silhouette of Mt Arayat.

Whoever was the first Mediterranean who realized how olive oil and balsamic vinegar is a killer combo with bread should have been immortalized in history and have statues created in their honor.
Two bread sticks smeared with butter-garlic on a plate next to a saucer with extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and an Italian herb mix. Behind them are the bottles of olive oil and balsamic vinegar, plus a brown take-out paper bag from Sbarro.

A dead leaf beetle lying near my door rug that I noticed two days ago. These beetles look like ladybugs superficially, but (as indicated by their name) they eat plant leaves not other insects.

Decided to lessen the accounts I follow on Instagram. Was able to trim down 1200+ to 750+. There are about 20 accounts that I purposely didn't remove. Friends who passed away, their accounts a record of their life that I can still return to.

It's still raining so I stayed for dessert. Banana mochi turon—instead of saba slices coated with caramelized sugar, the filling is banana and starch with a rubbery consistency. Not bad, but not wow either. It came with a thick sweetened coconut milk dip with crushed peanuts. The dip, I liked.

Biglang umulan. Na-stranded pho.
Close up of a bowl of Vietnamese pho, with chopsticks raising the sliced beef from the soup. Behind the bowl is a plate of basil and bean sprouts, my bike helmet, and a glass of Vietnamese iced tea.

Pansit batil patung is a recipe that originated from Tuguegarao. It uses thick egg noodles (miki) and is prepared with carabao meat, pork liver, chicharon or lechon kawali, veggies, and poached egg. The basic recipe is already a heartstopper but special versions—

I thought I stepped on something soft when I placed my foot under the canteen table. Then there was a sudden angry scream, a quick jab of pain, and I didn't even see which cat was it that I accidentally stepped on. I think I need anti-rabies and tetanus shots. Oh, lordy.
