TAKE ACTION! Demand #Bospoli City Council reject increased criminalization of our unhoused neighbors and poor people who use drugs and reinstate and expand evidence-based #harmreduction and public health services! #stopthesweeps #keysnotcuffs

TAKE ACTION! The Boston City Council is hosting a hearing on Thursday September 4th at 6m on Councilor Flynn’s “Mass and Cass Emergency Resolution”. This proposal calls for “zero tolerance” of public substance use, a doubling down on criminalization, and deadly forced treatment of our community. Submit written testimony demanding the Council: 1) Reject the Resolution and End Criminalization. 2) Reinstate and expand evidence-based solutions that center people’s health, safety, and needs. 3) Center unhoused people and people who use drugs, who are the experts, in decision-making. Toolkit in bio. Testify ASAP and hang in for updates.

Increasing civil commitments has at least one predictable policy outcome: more death. "[A] report issued last year by the state Department of Public Health, showed a higher risk of overdose and death after involuntary — versus voluntary — treatment." #mapoli @maapmass.bsky.social
