Cardputer owners who like making music, try GLIDE. The key rows are tuned like strings and notes slide between pitches, a bit like a fretless instrument. It makes up its own sounds, and on the ADV the mic can hear a song and retune to its key. m5ware.com/projects/476 #synth
Two hands holding a white M5Stack Cardputer ADV with the GLIDE logo on its small screen, thumbs on the keyboard. A caption reads "Custom Synth for Cardputer". Blurred close-ups of the same device fill the sides.

If you have an M5Paper S3 and like reading on e-ink, CrossPoint Reader makes it an EPUB reader. Tap the sides to turn pages, send books over WiFi, and sync your progress with KOReader. It's juicecultus's port of the CrossPoint firmware. m5ware.com/projects/503 #eink
A white M5Paper S3 standing in a black stand on a wooden table, its e-ink screen showing a page of a novel with a battery reading of 100% and page 26 of 27 at the bottom. A glowing orange lamp sits to the left and an hourglass to the right.

If you have an AtomS3R and an Android phone, Atom-Watch by Felix Biego makes it a smartwatch. It pairs over Bluetooth with the Chronos app to show the time, weather, notifications, calls and navigation, and can find your phone. It's on M5Burner. m5ware.com/projects/688 #M5Stack
Six close-ups of a grey AtomS3R showing Atom-Watch screens: a clock with weather, notifications, Nairobi weather at 25°C, Find Phone, a camera shutter button, an incoming call, and a navigation arrow with an ETA.

Playdate owners, you can give yours a camera. PD-Camera for M5Stack uses a CoreS3, plugged in by USB cable, to take 1-bit photos and animated GIFs on the Playdate, with no soldering. It's an experimental port of t0mg's PD-Camera, so expect the odd crash. m5ware.com/projects/636 #Playdate
A hand holds a grey M5Stack CoreS3 next to a yellow Playdate on a tripod. The Playdate screen shows a dithered black-and-white photo of the OSAKA sign behind them, with a filter menu open.

If you're into planes and have an M5StickC Plus2 sitting in a drawer, nearPlane turns it into a tracker for the closest aircraft, with altitude, speed and route. The data comes from adsb.lol over WiFi, so you don't need a radio receiver. It's on M5Burner too. m5ware.com/projects/755 #avgeek
A hand holding an orange M5StickC Plus2 showing flight KLM31C, a Boeing 737 registered PH-BGF, at 6050 ft and 294 kt on the route AMS to ATH.

If you like drawing pixel art, BitMap16 DX turns a Cardputer ADV into a little sketchbook. You draw on 8×8, 16×16 or 32×32 canvases, save to the SD card, export PNGs and load your own palettes from Lospec. You can shake it to undo, too. m5ware.com/projects/605 #pixelart
A white M5Stack Cardputer on a green cutting mat, its small screen showing a pixel-art green apple being drawn, with tool icons and a colour palette beside the canvas.

If you run Home Assistant and have an M5Paper S3, here's an e-ink remote with a button for each light or device you pick. It uses Home Assistant's websocket API, so there's no plugin to add. It stays on WiFi, so the battery only lasts a few hours. m5ware.com/projects/429 #HomeAssistant
Two e-ink remotes side by side, each showing the same Home Assistant controls: sliders for Living room, Bedroom and Air purifier, plus buttons for PC and Night lights.

Radio listeners with a Tab5, have a look at OrcSDR. Plug an RTL-SDR receiver into the Tab5's USB port and you get a touchscreen radio with no computer attached. It does FM with RDS, AM, airband, marine and weather channels, and installs from your browser. m5ware.com/projects/704 #SDR
An M5Stack Tab5 in an orange case running OrcSDR's home screen, with a spectrum, a blue waterfall and a 96.110 MHz frequency readout. An RTL-SDR Blog V4 receiver with two telescopic antennas sits beside it.

Meshtastic without a phone. Plai turns a Cardputer ADV with the LoRa cap into a standalone mesh messenger. Messages, nodes and history all live on the SD card, so nothing is lost when you reboot or swap firmware. m5ware.com/projects/434 #Meshtastic
Plai's node list on the Cardputer, with labels pointing out each node's name, signal, hops, battery and last-seen time.

For the Cardputer and MicroPython crowd, MicroHydra is a small launcher that makes your own apps easy to run. Drop a Python file into the apps folder on flash or SD and it shows up in the menu. There's a community apps repo too. m5ware.com/projects/410 #Cardputer
Four close-ups of a Cardputer screen running MicroHydra: the launcher on a Game of Life app, the settings list, the file browser and a code editor.

Photographers, this one's for you. furble turns an M5StickC Plus2 or Core2 into a Bluetooth shutter remote for Fujifilm, Canon, Nikon, Sony and Ricoh cameras. It uses the camera's own Bluetooth, so there's no adapter to buy. m5ware.com/projects/416 #photography
An M5Stack Core2 showing the furble menu, with Connect, Scan, Delete, Settings and Off icons.

One of the originals: M5Stack-SD-Updater by @tobozo.eurosky.social has been around since 2018. Put your apps on an SD card and pick one from a menu on the device, no computer needed. It works with M5Unified too. m5ware.com/projects/407 #M5Stack
Four photos of an M5Stack running SD-Updater: an SD card app menu, an About screen, a QR code info page and a loading bar.

Want a wall switch with a screen? openHASP turns an M5Stack Core2 into a touch panel for your smart home. You design the buttons and pages yourself, and it talks to your home automation over MQTT. m5ware.com/projects/396 #smarthome
openHASP's Lights and Covers page on a small touchscreen: two light buttons and up, stop and down buttons for two covers, with the time and 22.3°C at the top.

The Cardputer makes a pretty good handheld. Cardputer Game Station has emulators for NES, SNES, Game Boy, Mega Drive, PC Engine and more than ten other systems. The keyboard is the controller, or plug in M5Stack's joystick unit. m5ware.com/projects/414 #Cardputer
Four photos of a Cardputer screen running NES games: Kung Fu, Tetris, Super Mario Bros. and Bomberman.
