𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 @M5JFS 📡🛰️🔭🌌 @m5jfs.bsky.social · 22/06/2026So sorry Gareth, I logged you on paper correctly but I screwed up your callsign with my sh💩t typing. Hope I wasn't your only IO90 QSO. Every month I manage to screw up, I also had two more busted QSOs. One broken call and one incorrect RX report. Dropped two grids (yours and one of the others) 🤬 100

𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 @M5JFS 📡🛰️🔭🌌 @m5jfs.bsky.social · 03/05/2026My FlightAware is currently running with a 2m/70cm rubber duck on the RTL3 SDR. I plan to build a CoCo antenna in the summer. Still, I get reasonable range with it in a west facing window with a wholly inappropriate antenna at the moment 😁 120
𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 @M5JFS 📡🛰️🔭🌌 @m5jfs.bsky.social · 03/05/2026This weekend, I monitored 3 passes of the UMKA-1 (RS40S) cubesat which has been transmitting SSTV images of children’s drawings under the “Umka from Space” program. It has a strong downlink on 437.625MHz, so it is easy to receive clean images with a 7 element Yagi antenna. r4uab.ru/2026/05/01/0... 020
𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 @M5JFS 📡🛰️🔭🌌 @m5jfs.bsky.social · 15/04/2026I've doubled my power now, woo! I don't think there's any point going to the high power category until I improve rx with a preamp. I worked pretty much everyone I could hear. Still leaping out of the car to turn the antenna. I occasionally look out for cheap tv aerial rotator but no luck yet. 110
𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 @M5JFS 📡🛰️🔭🌌 @m5jfs.bsky.social · 15/04/2026Conditions weren't that great for the April RSGB 432MHz UKAC contest last night. Worked a few new stations and plenty of familiar callsigns too. 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 @M5JFS 📡🛰️🔭🌌 @m5jfs.bsky.social · 10/03/2026FT817 with an upgraded mic. I replaced the MH-31 fist mic innards with a SotaBeams voice keyer which has an electret capsule instead of the standard dynamic. I think I also had the SotaBeams compressor switched in (normally I switch it out for FM sats). Gives nice bright, punchy audio. 110
