I honestly cannot believe any person who saw the game yesterday believes that one game suspension is warranted given the hit AND the celebration after. Just astonishing.

My kid (3.5)’s narration of the cubs walk off today: “First Pete took third base and then he took home plate and then everyone gives hugs and high fives and then they put soap in his hair because it’s bath time and then they go to bed.”

The catcher. The ump is “the yeller”, usually. Or sometime the ref (hasn’t quite gotten the cross-sport nuances and we’ve also watched a lot of World Cup lately.

My child (3;8) is becoming obsessed with baseball (shocking I know). His favorite positions include the pitcher, the batter, and the hider (guy who hides behind the batter and is in a “hiding costume”).

Unfortunately, my kid (3;6) really wants it to be his turn to “hit the baseball so far”. And the kid’s zone with tees is “for babies”. He wants the real pitcher to throw him a pitch.

As fun as 3 straight walk off wins are, I would sort of like the Cubs to just get a lead and maintain it and win in a less nausea-inducing way. (But yeah, fly the flag and sing the song!) #flythew #gocubsgo

This annual lecture series is named in honor of our department's founder, Dr. Frances Ingemann. Each year we host a distinguished scholar at the forefront of their area, giving our community a chance to learn more about their research and also share about the linguistics happening here at KU 🌻
