He feels like a firework, lit up by desire and about to burst into bloom.

Jungwon nips playfully at Euijoo's lip before pulling away. "You can touch," he says, voice light and teasing. Euijoo blinks back to reality, syrupy slow, and realizes his hands are hovering awkwardly by Jungwon's sides. Jungwon takes one of them and places it on his shoulder. Euijoo can't believe he's back here again. Going to a club is a rare enough occurrence for him; two days in a row is practically unheard of. Yet here he is, carefully picking his way toward the bar along the far wall, wearing a shirt that Nicholas once called slutty with an approving tone of voice. He even left the top button undone, like he knows Nicholas would have advised him to do.

Not that Nicholas had been around tonight to offer opinions on Euijoo's outfit. The last Euijoo heard, he was still holed up with the boy he met here last night. The one he'd ditched Euijoo to go fuck, the "fun night" out of "just dancing" that Nicholas had promised to Euijoo be damned. Instead, Euijoo spent his night sulking by the bar, waiting for Nicholas to reappear so he could head home.

When one of the bartenders—short, cute, and covered in piercings—started flirting with him, Euijoo assumed he was just doing his job and trying to cheer up the poor fuck who had so obviously been left behind by his friend. But then he'd leaned over the bar, bringing his lips close to Euijoo's ear, and said that he was off in five minutes, the implication obvious even without his pointedly raised eyebrow. Euijoo hesitated at first, but if Nicholas could abandon Euijoo to hook up with a cute guy then Euijoo figured he could do the same.

So he'd let the bartender, Yuma, take him home. Euijoo still isn't quite sure what possessed him to leave a post-it note with his phone number sitting by Yuma's bed when he crept out of his apartment this morning. He was a good fuck, but this isn't really the kind of thing Euijoo usually does.

And yet when he got a text this afternoon from an unknown number saying, i'm working again tonight wanna come by? drinks are on me ;), he'd immediately known that he would end up here again.

Euijoo finally breaks through the crowd and reaches the bar. He spots Yuma immediately. He's busy pouring out shots for a group of giggling girls covered in glitter. The way he works with confidence and precision is incredibly hot, and for a moment Euijoo is seized with doubt. What is he doing here? This is clearly Yuma's scene, but it's not Euijoo's—is he really going to do this again?

Yuma turns and catches sight of Euijoo. His face lights up and he grins. Euijoo remembers what those sharp teeth felt like on his skin. He still has the marks, proudly on display thanks to his unbuttoned shirt. Yuma's eyes flicker down and then back up, and his smile turns predatory. Euijoo's mouth goes dry with desire.

Yeah, he's absolutely going to do this again.

The forest is silent around Matthew. He's in his wolf form, crashing through the undergrowth, crushing moss and ferns beneath his feet. He's spent months running through Korea's forests, looking for Taerae.

Taerae was first person to encourage Matthew to embrace his wolf side when it began itching under his skin; the first person to tell him it was okay to be himself, whatever form that took. Matthew's best friend, his first love, someone he thought he would be with forever. Then Taerae disappeared without a trace, and Matthew has been searching ever since. He just wants to see him again, even if it's only one more time.

He's getting close now—he can feel it in his bones, some kind of instinct that defies definition. He bursts into a clearing, a nearly perfect circle of grass lined by trees and lit by moonlight. In the center is a wolf, its shape and scent so familiar that Matthew stumbles to a halt, overwhelmed. He stares at Taerae, but Taerae doesn't look back. His eyes are fixed on the moon.

Suddenly Taerae howls, a haunting melody that reverberates through the forest. Matthew only hesitates for a moment. Then he steps into the moonlight, tips his head back, and joins Taerae. They howl together, no longer just a song but a harmony.

Mingyu drapes himself over Minghao's back, sliding his arms around his waist. He'd pertinently waited until Minghao was no longer holding his paintbrush or palette, but even so Minghao stiffens in his hold. Mingyu tries not to let that sting.

"What are you working on?" he asks, peering over Minghao's shoulder. The canvas is huge but mostly empty. There are only a few strokes of blue paint slashing across the bottom left corner.

For a long moment Minghao stands like a statue, all sharp angles and tension. Then he exhales and leans back against Mingyu's chest. "I'm not sure," he says. "I originally had a vision, but now that I'm working on it things aren't really coming together."

Mingyu fights back a wince. The words hit too close to home, although he doubts it was intentional—it can sometimes be hard to tell with Minghao, though. They had a vision, too, when they started this thing between them. A grand vision of a beautiful future together.

It never really came together, either. Their relationship has been falling apart for months now, and both of them know it. Minghao has been dealing with it by retreating further into himself, and Mingyu has been dealing with it by clinging even more tightly. He knows that he's the reason Minghao is suffocating, but he can't help it. He's going to keep holding on until the very last pieces of this day dream finally slip through his fingers.

"Can you take a break?" Mingyu asks.

Minghao turns in Mingyu's arms and gives him a knowing look. "I could spare a few minutes," he says. He brings a hand to Mingyu's jaw and pulls him down into a kiss. Mingyu melts into his touch. It's a shame that this won't last, but Mingyu is going to enjoy this while he has it.

The city is painted in the deep blue tones of dusk, suspended somewhere between sunset and nightfall. Fuma walks beside Euijoo, so close that their knuckles occasionally brush, and yet neither of them bridge the gap and link their fingers together. It's always like this with them, careful spaces that they hold between themselves—forever on the precipice, never quite colliding.

The walk home from the gym isn't long. Euijoo was the one who suggested they work out together, a delightful anomaly that Fuma wasn't about to turn down. Everyone else left first, even their managers, until it was only them left. Euijoo and Fuma, Fuma and Euijoo. Cycling each other in their perpetual orbit.

Fuma felt Euijoo's hungry eyes on him for the entire workout, and in return he allowed his hands to linger every time he corrected Euijoo's posture. Tension built between them like lightning gathering to strike, and yet—

Here they are, with the their carefully curated distance still a chasm between them. Fuma wishes that Euijoo would say something, but it's a hopeless dream. After all, Fuma could just as easily be the one to speak, but he knows that he won't—for the same reasons that Euijoo won't.

His hand brushes against Euijoo's again. They spend the entire walk home in silence.

Nicholas truly only meant to go dancing tonight. That's what he promised Euijoo when he convinced him to come out to the club. A bit of dancing, some fun drinks, and then they could call it a night.

"Harder, please—"

Nicholas' words are swallowed by the bass that thumps through the walls of the club like rolling thunder. His hands slip on the inside of the toilet stall, losing their grip as he gets what he asked for. Nicholas gasps and pushes his hips backward, begging for more.

Somewhere out on the dance floor, Euijoo is probably cursing his existence. But when the prettiest boy Nicholas had ever seen asked him to dance, he hadn't been able to resist. All it took was one glance and Nicholas was a goner. He'd felt a spark the second the boy's hands first settled on his hips; after that, there was no possibility of turning back.

"H-Harua," Nicholas moans, the name he was given on the dance floor. It tastes like ozone, like the lingering scent after a thunderstorm. The fingers gripping him tighten, and the next thrust feels both impossibly deep and impossibly good—lightning in his veins, intoxicating and dangerous.

"That's it," Harua says. "You're doing so good."

The praise is heady, overwhelming. Nicholas' entire body trembles from the hurricane of emotion and pleasure. He screws his eyes shut and lets himself be swept away in the storm.

"People are staring," Matthew hisses, casting what he hopes is a furtive glance around the cafe.

"So?" Ricky replies. He takes a sip of his drink, apparently unbothered. "That's the point."

Matthew shifts uncomfortably in his seat. He's wearing new clothes, things that Ricky handpicked for him—which look amazing, but cling to his body in ways he isn't used to. He already misses his favorite sweatshirt and comfy joggers.

When Matthew's boyfriend broke up with him last week, he called Matthew bland, whatever the hell that's supposed to mean. So Matthew went to Ricky—the least bland person he could think of—and asked for help getting revenge. He never imagined it would lead to sitting in the trendiest cafe in Seongsu-dong while people whispered behind their hands: Are those two idols? No, they're probably influencers. I'm pretty sure I recognize one of them, I think he's a model—

"I don't know about this," Matthew mumbles. "I don't think I can pull it off."

"Of course you can," Ricky says with enough confidence that it helps to buoy Matthew, too. "Just watch me and try to copy what I do." He lifts one perfect eyebrow and quirks a smile. "It's all about the attitude."

The glow of Euijoo's computer screen is the only light in his room. It burns his eyes, but he can't bring himself to look away. The Junghwan on his screen still looks like the boy Euijoo knows—knew—even with the makeup and fancy clothes. He smiles as his group accepts an award and gives a speech thanking everyone who supported them along the way.

Euijoo pulls his blanket tighter around himself. He knows the words aren't directed at him, but that doesn't stop them from feeling like a knife in his chest. For so long, Euijoo was Junghwan's number one fan, the one encouraging him and cheering him on. Now, "Shinyu" has an entire studio full of fans screaming his name.

It's been three months since they broke up. Since Euijoo saw the trajectory Junghwan was on and realized that if he didn't let him go he would only be holding him back. This way Euijoo is the only one sinking to the bottom, while Junghwan can keep dreaming. Reaching higher and higher until he makes it to the place he was always meant to be.

Euijoo knew he was a roadblock, so he removed himself from the equation. He fixed things—or at least that's what he's been telling himself. But now he stares at the Junghwan on his screen and sees the way his smile doesn't quite reach his eyes, and he wonders if maybe he didn't actually fix anything at all.

Yudai wakes when the door to his room opens, creating a brief flash of light and noise. Moments later the mattress sinks under someone's weight, and then Yudai has an armful of Euijoo.

"Welcome home," Euijoo mumbles. "I missed you."

Yudai has gotten maybe five hours of sleep in the past three days. He just arrived home barely twenty minutes ago, stumbling out of the van that brought him back from the airport and straight into bed. With Euijoo in his arms, though, the bone-deep exhaustion that has been haunting him lately suddenly doesn't seem quite so bad. Maybe Euijoo is an angel, bringing Yudai back to life simply by being by his side.

"Missed you, too," Yudai replies.

Euijoo hums and shifts so that his cheek is pressed to Yudai's chest. They drift off to sleep like that, tangled together and holding each other close.
