From my charcoal series, Resting Place. Based on a cemetery in Timor-Leste, this drawing explores white tile facades and tinted glass openings - a city of “dead malls,” a preoccupation. 14×14 in. charcoal, $150 mryczek.com/category/ava... #charcoaldrawing #contemporarydrawing

A square black-and-white charcoal drawing of a cemetery structure with repeating white tile facades, circular openings, and dark recessed passages. The architectural forms create a rhythmic pattern of light and shadow, with detailed charcoal texture throughout.

Sharing the next original charcoal drawing from my Resting Place series. This one was all about height, the vertical drop of light, and the geometry of the ironwork. Available now, along with pricing, on my website: mryczek.com/category/ava...

I created this charcoal drawing at the beginning of my Resting Place series. It began with a tomb I discovered in photographs of a cemetery in Timor-Leste. Swipe through to see the sketches, model, and source photographs that shaped the final work. mryczek.com/category/ava...

Pages from the sketchbook used during my “Resting Place” series. What used to be prep became a mood board—each page its own piece, something to return to for energy. #art #sketchbook #painting #process #contemporaryart

"Eclipse" and it's early sketch. There's so much beautiful imagery to take in from this cemetery, but I kept zooming into these tiny vases - some cemented to the tombs, others knocked over by the wind with their contents sprawled out next to them, many with dirt and rot creeping up from the bottom.

"I'll See You There" and it's charcoal predecessor. This one actually didn't need a model. The image was just enough to get me started. There was no need to create my own lighting as the shadow was already perfect. #ContemporaryArt #BostonArtist #ModernPainting #StudioPractice #ArtCollectors

I currently have 2 copies remaining of “Surveillance”, a signed 46-page hardcover catalogue featuring 19 paintings from series of the same name. I've no plans to have this book reprinted, so it’s likely these may be the last two available. If you are interested in purchasing, please message me. #art

My new oil paintings have a slightly gritty texture in the dark areas, which makes them almost impossible to photograph well. Endless thanks to photographer Julia Featheringill, who handles texture and glare better than anyone I know.
