Today I managed to help someone at the book fest reunite a lost necklace with its owner and then spotted a nice person accidentally walking away from her tote bag and grabbed her in time. This has made me happier than a significant amount of more measurable achievements.

Totes. I know these bots scraped a pirated version, which I saw on LibGen thanks to The Atlantic coverage. Bleugh!

The worst author AI scam emails are the ones where they've obviously scraped your book, not just the information about your book readily available online. Yuck, yuck, yuck.

I wonder if I should record the calls with my agent where I moan about hating the new novel I’m trying to write, just in case I need proof it’s not AI some day.

Ooft, I’m glad they did query you but you’re right, not something they should need to have to be doing! Bloody scammers

Arg, what a pain! And I do also worry about the writers who aren’t familiar with the awful AI flatter bots, although luckily I think most are cottoning on!

Anyone receiving a festival invite from contact.leerandall@gmail.com, even though the gushing email has the Wigtown logo on it, IT IS FAKE and generated by AI. In no way does it resemble a proper festival invite but I can see why one might mistake it for that.
