Day 13 of #HistFicXmas and the most dysfunctional family scene in my books. I suppose - so far - I'd have to go back to A Redoubtable Citadel for this one. Paul and Anne have enjoyed their time with the children but all good things come to an end... #histfic www.lynnbryant.co.uk/a-family-row...

Almost caught up with #HistFicXmas today. Day 12 asks about the happiest family scene in my books. This is from book 4, A Redoubtable Citadel, where Paul van Daan is reunited with his children and his father after several years apart. www.lynnbryant.co.uk/a-family-reu...

Day 11 of #HistFicXmas asked about my MCs family. I realised I can't describe the Van Daans in a few sentences so I wrote a blog post about them... www.lynnbryant.co.uk/the-van-daan...

Day 10 of #HistFicXmas asks how Christmas or Winter was celebrated in my era. Very often, my lot are in winter quarters but at home a lot of the customs would seem familiar to us today as this post explains. #histfic janeaustensworld.com/2017/12/16/a...

Day 9 of #HistFicXmas asks which historical era I write about. It's well known that I'm a Napoleonic girl through and through with the Peninsular War Saga and the Manxman but in my early days I wrote a Victorian and a 16th century romance so I can break out occasionally...

In completely unrelated news to anything #histfic, I want one of these gnome sweatshirts. Just look at the cuteness of this. Am I a child? Yes. Do I care? No. I'm getting one. www.gnomeforchristmas.com

Up to day 8 of #histficxmas and the prompt is about unusual Christmas customs in my books. The best example of this has to be my 2019 Christmas short story which was set in the Isle of Man in 1809-10. I loved researching this story... #histfic www.lynnbryant.co.uk/writing-with...

Day 7 of #HistFicXmas asked if I prefer to write about summer or winter. I write about events in whatever season they happened to take place but some of my best scenes are set in winter weather. Marching an army through a muddy retreat or a freezing coach journey in winter... #histfic

#histficxmas day 6 is a simple question. Am I a winter or summer person? Definitely prefer summer. I don't mind the winter weather so much but the constant darkness really gets me down. I like long, light evenings. #histfic

Day 5 of #HistFicXmas asks if any of my books feature Christmas. Quite a few of them do, but of course I also publish a free Christmas story every year on my website as a gift to my readers. My most popular one so far has been the Gift in 2021. #histfic www.lynnbryant.co.uk/the-gift/

On to Day 3 of #histficxmas and which of my books would make great Christmas gifts? The answer is any of them 🤣🤣🤣 However, I'd recommend the first book in either series for anybody new to my books. Or if you have a Regency romance fan in your life, either of my Regencies would be good. #histfic

#HistFicXmas day2. Currently working on book 9 of the #PeninsularWarSaga. Set during 1813 when Wellington's army is poised to invade France. Good for Major-General van Daan but not for Colonel Bonnet on the other side of that border.

Welcome to my 2023 Christmas short story, a romance set well before the start of the Peninsular War Saga though my readers will recognise these characters. As always it's free so share as much as you like. www.lynnbryant.co.uk/the-yule-log/
