Having M1000s QFs spread over 2 days is a crime against tennis, especially when it's an ATP- or WTA-only event. And then if someone retires, like today, it's terrible for the spectators. Absolute shitshow scheduling.

And not the first time he's done something similar. Very unpleasant.

Even by the standards of Bruce and the band, this is something extraordinary. Takes the breath away. Wow.

"One thing you'll get from me is relentless pursuit of growth and relentless pursuit of value for our stakeholders". How utterly depressing. This guy clearly doesn't care at all about the actual tennis. www.theguardian.com/sport/2026/o...

Jovic must be exhausted. Not sure who's advising her but she's played too much.

This *INCLUDES* tourism from the world's largest sporting event, and it was FIFA's biggest-ever World Cup.

Yes, very disappointing. As is the lack of geographical spread.

Disappointing to say the least...what is it about the ATP and abusers?

So Man City prolonged the process as much as possible to a point where the current Prime Minister is much less likely to intervene on political grounds than his predecessors. Karma.

Interesting article. It's focusing on football, but equally applies to tennis and other sports. There is little or no evidence of benefit for these practices. www.theguardian.com/football/202...

It appears that the red button no longer has streams of the outside courts - on Virgin media at least. Streams are available on the Sky Sports website.

Of course the scheduling needs looking at. But it's also true that the men's matches would have been extremely ordinary had they been best of 3 sets.

Lyn @lyn-knott.bsky.social · 08/09/2026

Unsurprising that they have struggled to sell the tickets at the extortionate prices they were asking. Painful lack of star quality on show (Carlos excepted). And the lack of South Americans in Team World is a massive own goal.

Lyn @lyn-knott.bsky.social · 05/09/2026

Yes he can. And he can also bring a game plan, which is more than the previous coach could do! For 3 of Stef's 4 "big" titles, Patrick was in his box (not MC24).

Lyn @lyn-knott.bsky.social · 05/09/2026

Same! Very pleasantly surprised. Maybe Patrick Mouratoglou is a half-decent coach after all 😁

And the Monday start. Wimbledon is always sold out so they don't need to schedule in a way that maximises ticket sales.

The media types very much support "free flow" entry, having never had anyone try to go past them at set point (this has happened to me twice - needless to say I did not let them past!).

A symbolic torch-passing moment: Kei Nishikori's Grand Slam career ends in the final round of US Open qualifying, going down to rising 20-year-old Japanese star Rei Sakamoto. 6-4, 7-6(3). Nishikori will play ATP 500 Tokyo as his farewell tournament.
