In the Glow [ sunlight washes over the beige kitchen tiles and it is twenty years prior, mother calling out from the bedroom hall; i follow her voice to reality overgrown, where time exceeds the linear, as emblematic patterns rise and dust congeals to bone . . . . ] full #poem in Amethyst Review

Backseat Meditations

time ripples into a cosmic whisper;
the road bends across state lines
and i follow the double yellow
through bare trees. i am braided

in this sleepy town, iron-pressed
and fringed with the promise
of spring. the season unfurls
like a mollified awakening.

it lingers in my hair, teases out
dead leaves and static wonderings.
the memories still visit, mystified
and posing as a modest inborn habit.

i weave into their wrinkles, uplift
life to the once forgotten, conjure up
unknown until its axis tilts and holds me.
the prime begins again: i sweep along

each ridge, maintain a conscious flow—
diversion. time rustles in its dusk-lit nest
and remnants carry me onward.
i follow the double yellow

through bare trees. unravel in
this ageless town, the skies in flux
withholding… i sift the dirt in clusters
and converge with heart hypnotic

on this idle path buds lay in wait,
dry bark kindles the gloaming;
our roots rearrange direction and while
the earth thaws, i will be patient.

from beyond the intricate threads of your nest, these crowded streets like veins sewn in wrists, i look upon you in tranquil awe; for you have weaved through my forest bones and shook me

i wake as if from another world and there is no way of knowing who i was before the click of your pen roused me from a static spell of dark. it is the kind of morning that sheds when i start, circadian layers unspool between the ribs as my body makes its way across the landing. ....
