RJB @lycenae.bsky.social · 9hThis means that Americans will stay away, because most of them know a promise from Donald Trump is poison. This won’t affect prices in any meaningful way, and it just spurs more distrust of us as a profoundly stupid world power that doesn’t know what it’s doing. 010
RJB @lycenae.bsky.social · 9hProblem is: buying Russian oil products is wildly illegal for ALL Americans, and no loosening of OFAC world market licenses will change that. Sure, Trump might direct his customs officers to look the other way, but that doesn’t mean that an importer wouldn’t be in legal jeopardy in the future. 110
RJB @lycenae.bsky.social · 10hWhile the president can (and has) waived licensing requirements for Russian oil, it is still wildly illegal for any American to buy it because of legislation that Trump himself signed. Any promises not to prosecute are only good while Trump is in office, and that won’t be forever. 100
RJB @lycenae.bsky.social · 10hAnd, Trump announcing a deal with Russia ahead of the mid-terms is just smoke and mirrors intended to give farmers some intestinal courage to consider voting for the GOP again. If Russia had that capacity to sell, and the ability to ship it (which they don’t), wouldn’t they already be doing it? 100
RJB @lycenae.bsky.social · 16hIf your manager starts monologuing about combustible citrus, just nod. It’s a cultural thing there. 110
RJB @lycenae.bsky.social · 16hAdd this to the list of illegal things that the administration will refuse to prosecute itself over. 🤦🏻♂️ 010

RJB @lycenae.bsky.social · 30/09/2026And, finally, yes, these things can go off the rails. Like any human can. That’s why you have reviewers and editors and permission layers. But these things have come a long way in just two years, let alone 4 when these things were just single pass and created code that was only worth a chuckle. 000
RJB @lycenae.bsky.social · 30/09/2026These advanced systems are not cheap, and are WAY better than the free chatbots you get on the web, and I daresay are also a quantum leap above the 10 dollar a month subscriptions you get from an AI service. If you want to see how good this stuff can be, try out a paid month of Codex or Claude Code. 100
RJB @lycenae.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Orchestration layers (like Agents) use multiple single passes through LLMs in a directed graph to fix errors and check statements against sources for truth. And LLMs can be given tools to measure reality rather than make assumptions about it from training data. 100
RJB @lycenae.bsky.social · 30/09/2026This is only true about the very lowest level of a software stack that includes an auto-regressive model. You don’t have to have LLMs that can say “hang on, that token isn’t correct” in order to build useful systems. 100
