In 2025 an armed militia captured their province. In 2026 Ebola hit their village. All 53 staff showed up anyway. 15 quarantined inside to protect the animals. That's why LPRC won the GFAS Outstanding Sanctuary of the Year and is now an .ORG Impact Awards finalist. www.lwirofund.org/news/org-imp...

These aren't just statistics. Each one represents a choice — to show up, to care, to keep the forest intact. LPRC has been named a finalist for the 2026 .ORG Impact Awards in Environmental Stewardship. This is a look at the work behind that recognition. Learn more: www.lwirofund.org

Making their first appearance in a World Cup since 1974, DR Congo played powerhouse Portugal to a draw. Portugal is ranked 7th in the world, and DR Congo is 43rd. DR Congo, racked by war and Ebola, is sorely in need of something to cheer, and the team delivered. C’est fantastique!
