I see both sides. We want to make newly informed choices and they responded. In reality product packaging is dubious and they get fined if they get it wrong any number of times in any number of stores. Trying to do the right thing comes with significant financial risk.

Just because they declared they brought it, doesn't mean it was allowed into Canada. For individual travelers to bring raw meat into Canada, it has to be commercially packaged and be from a select set of countries that does not include Egypt.

Carney has a PhD from Oxford. I think he knew exactly what he was doing with his MOU and the impossible bar it set in terms of First Nations and BC agreement. The rest is a delicate balance between immediate trading partner diversification and longer term sustainable economic growth.
