I know that I read about and research a lot more things than the average person so I’m always kind when ppl ask a question (in good faith) even if it’s something basic that they “should know”. I’ve found that a lot of ppl are snarky/mean because they actually can’t answer the question asked.

My mom being a bit of a food hoarder used to drive me crazy until I really dug in the trauma of her childhood and her mother’s life and then I understood so I have a lot more grace. It’s definitely generational because I see the tendencies in myself 😅

I’m actually going to go further and say the men in the village need to step up in new ways, specifically. The “I’ll talk to him about girls” attitude needs to include rape culture admonishments, because that’s important too. A lot of heavy lifting in the village is done by women

Parents, it’s time for us to have a meeting: we have to stop saying/believing that it’s easier to raise boys. That lack of guidance and supervision isn’t ease, it’s where the outside influences seep in. It’s not easier because parenting is a laborious task and we have to do a better job for them.
