doesn't mean you can't enjoy the film at all. those same tropes allow for communities of creation to exist, as through them the story itself vicariously lives through. i wouldn't want to see a world barren of some of the creators just because they couldn't have the ability to experience it firsthand

same with movie vs script reading you brought up as an example - experiencing the movie fully may include film history, real historical events, creation and cultural background or even just technical analysis in order to understand the creative choices; but experiencing only one or even none of this

it's true that secondhand experience will not be the fullest and that it is an interactive medium first but gaming has already established such unique tropes that it doesn't matter from which lens you study it from; its language is vast but is not tied down to a single thing

tbf i have already played 4 and 6 but a dear friend inspired me to take a crack at the whole series; in the meantime i'll decide whether i want to go in release order or how i initially wanted to go (gen 4 -> 5 -> 3 -> 1 -> 2) due to some of the specific interests

next series i wanna commit myself to playing is armored core but not before i play the marathon trilogy (around the end of this year most likely)

my only actual takeaway from all this is that ac1&2 are often sidelined compared to the ps2 games and even ac3 but they are 100% worth experiencing and are generally great games; they really nailed it from the start

fyi the only game i actually dislike is ac6 but i try to be nice about it cause i did like some things in there might update this whenever i get to ja, ah and other stuff like 22, advance, nw and xi but only for the sake of completion and not because i actually want to play them
