Apache Solr Search is my favorite feature on the site. It's also the most resource intensive. This is fine for ordinary site usage. This is not fine when crawlers decide to ignore the robots.txt exclusion and hit it 20x/minute, 24/7. For now, the solution is to disable search for anonymous users.

About a month ago, traffic to the site surged by over 2000%, almost all of it to the search page. It's bots crawling for content to train AI models, rudely ignoring the exclusions my robots.txt file. My first run at a filter is stopping almost all of it, but I'll have to work on it more.

Grok recently launched Imagine 2.0, its latest image generator. in my opinion it's a step backwards, primarily because its understanding of "inflated" when applied to people seems to align more with "fat" than v1.5's did.

I've reactivated user registration at bodyinflation.org. I currently have 2 layers of spammer protection, each is about 80% effective so far. That's 96% effectiveness overall. This is a bit short of my 98% target, but I think we can get there.

Confession: 4o was my favorite ChatGPT model, and I'm disappointed to see it go. In my experience, it was the least constrained of the models. But it's both interesting and concerning to see the intensity of the reaction to the model's retirement.

I've been play with OpenAI's newest image model. It's pretty impressive, but the censoring is...interesting. It'll balk if it suspects you're generating fetish material, but you can sometimes get it to cooperate if your prompt explicitly states the tone is non-sexual.

Been having router issues for the past couple of days. Comcast finally sent someone out to replace it. And the new router supports loopback! This isn't something that normal and sane people care about, but it actually does simplify my life by a small but meaningful amount.

DeviantArt's UI fuckery reduced the time I spend on the site years ago. But recently I noticed that the default sort for galleries changed from "Newest" to "Relevance". WTF? If I've followed someone for years, I'll only ever want to see their latest posts.

It's happened, TikTok is offline, not even Tor is working. I only ever used as a source for clips of big bouncing boobies, so it's not a catastrophic loss for me. I have backup sources for such content. Maybe I should do a series of memorial posts for The Breasts We've Lost to TikTok's Fall.

It only recently occurred to me that the "loophole" in ChatGPT's censorship could very well be deliberate design. They accept that automated measures will never prevail against persistent actors, so their systems focus on the low-hanging fruit while still consuming the energy of the more adept.

Hypothesis: The more text ChatGPT has to evaluate in its context window, the less influence the filtering directives can have. You can't start off writing explicit smut, but if you gradually turn up the heat you're less likely trip the alarms and can eventually get away with some surprising stuff.

My inflation stories tend to not have much sexual content, so it's kind of ironic how much time I spend trying to find the limits of what kind of smut ChatGPT will generate. Considering what I've gotten away with so far, I'm really curious what people who got banned did to bring the hammer down.

ChatGPT appears to have updated its filtering. I get it, I've been surprised at how much I could get away with in recent months. But OpenAI's competence regarding content filtering has always been...less than impressive.
