Firing 300,000 federal workers would save the US govt ~$35Bn. But it would reduce GDP by ~$119Bn that, with the ~$3Bn in unemployment claims, a net economic loss of $87Bn. "That would be an outcome that is bad for everybody." Analysis from @iata.org — yes, IATA. www.iata.org/en/publicati...

Safest Airspace in the world?
By - on Thursday, Jan 30th 2025 13:25Z
Listening to what the transport secretary of the US is saying, trying to reassure people that US airspace is the safest on the world. Thanks to this website alone, we know that's not the case, judging by the near misses caused by the operating procedures used over there. Many parts of Europe and some in Asia would be easily able to dispute that claim.Screenshot of two comments on the AvHerald article.

US ATC
By AMGPilot on Thursday, Jan 30th 2025 14:18Z

It's about time that American ATC stop giving cowboys instructions to airliners, stop giving visual approaches to airliners especially at night. I remember flying regularly into DCA at night on a CRJ and ATC asking if we had the river visual for the River visual approach. Would always say No and you could feel how bothered they were that you were not playing their games so that they could just get rid of you.

Constant non-Standard will cause desaster
By Willi on Thursday, Jan 30th 2025 14:11Z

This constant chaos in US-airspace with all their non-standard operation as visual approaches, Pilots doing separation themselves, landing clearance without a Runway actually being clear, late sidesteps on the approach and all the other stuff they do over there is just a recipe for desaster.
I've flown to SFO countless times and have stopped to count how many TCAS alerts I've experienced there.
Tons of VFR traffic in immediate vicinity of major busy airports with pilots often having no clue what to do doesnt make it better.
This has to stop!Screenshot of a comment on the AvHerald article.

Visual separation at night
By LH driver on Thursday, Jan 30th 2025 14:28Z

Remember that LH flight that company wise was not allowed to take visual separation at night at SFO and was bullied by the Air Traffic Controller and forced to divert? This finally should be a lesson for the FAA and ATC in the US that this chaos cannot continue any further.Screenshot of a comment on the AvHerald article.

Visual approach
By Andrea on Thursday, Jan 30th 2025 06:42Z
That's the result of performing visual at night in US. All the time I flew there they ask in any situations and weather. Never accept visual approach in US specially at night, too dangerous

Airbus used two versions of CATIA (4 & 5) across design sites for the development of the A380. Unaware that Dassault had changed the geometry kernel in V5, this created differences in bend radius calculations for wiring. Wires were too short. 100k of them, costing Airbus an estimated $6.1 billion
