On September 11, 2001, retired NYPD Detective Eddie Blackburn showed up for others. He responded to the World Trade Center after the towers fell and continued working on the recovery effort in the weeks that followed. Years later, Eddie was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer related to his exposure.
