I’m slowly coming back to life and functioning like a human again. During all of this I was only finishing client comms, but I’m getting back to posting. Prob not every single day cuz my brain and emotions are absolutely fried, but definitely more often than once in over a month.

So... I wasn’t sure if I should talk about something this personal, but I felt like I should explain why I disappeared.

Hi. So... I haven’t been here for over a month, and there was a pretty sad reason behind it.

My dad had a stroke caused by a blood clot in his brain. He developed brain swelling, had to undergo life-saving surgery, and was put into a medically induced coma in the ICU. For the next few weeks, I kept going back and forth to my hometown, spending time with my mom and visiting him in the hospital.

Fuck, I’ve been thinking for a week about whether I should even post this, but I feel like I should explain why I disappeared, even if no one actually gives a shit. How funny.

It’s been 38 days, and today my dad was transferred to a rehab center. He talks normally, walks on his own, goes up and down the stairs, eats, gets dressed, reads and writes messages on his phone... He was even home for 10 days after being discharged from the hospital.

The doctors, nurses, even the head of the rehab center... ALL OF THEM say it’s a miracle. At first they weren’t sure he would survive. Later they told us his brain was in critical condition. When they started waking him from the coma, they said he had no chance of regaining consciousness. And yet, he looked at me and stroked my face.

Now when I read the messages I exchanged with friends and family during all of this, it hits me so fucking hard. I’m still in denial. It feels like none of it ever happened, and it’s only been 38 days...

I’ve been praying so fucking hard... and somehow I believe in God again.

I just wish this punishment had fallen on me instead of my dad, if this was supposed to be what brought me back to faith. He is such a loving and sweet person. He has never hurt anyone and has always wanted everyone to live in peace and love each other. I guess this was just how it was meant to be.

Now he asks us, “Why me? What did I do to deserve this?” and none of us knows how to answer him. He even apologizes for scaring us so much... as if any of this was his fault.

Life.

36/365 I already said that my sketches are terrible, and I know it's a mess, but let me cook in my own way, okay? 😭 (it's a 10 min sketch, which shows I'm impatient, no?) #WIP #Sketch #Procreate #DigitalArt #CommsOpen #OC a mess 🐉 🐲
