So my #WebtoonContest entry is an in medias res slice of one of my novel of the same name. Specifically chapters 4, 5, and 6. If you're curious what comes before the entry, you can read the first 4 chapters on my author site choir-files.com.

This ain't bad for being a dark horse. I don't know how much I need to be seen, so I gotta keep up the chatter! This novel will get drawn eventually but this would be an amazing way to make it happen!

My dearest friend, Designer of my first novel's cover, AND the amazing creator of the Webtoon "Half of the Crown" @rohigashi.bsky.social is tabling at #Kawacon this weekend! And look what we've got? Awesome cosplay and (hopefully) and new Thief of Eyes fan!

I wanna move my body but between the gallbladder removal and the rotator cuff repair, moving too much hurts more than I like and I'm weathering it without pain meds. It's honestly exhausting to be THIS sedate.

Coming full circle from scripting, to prose, back to scripting is thankfully easy. The influence never faded.

I've made my selection for my contest entry. I think this will be a good 3 episode spread. Just gotta finish putting the team together and converting this from prose to panels. have a preview, if you like. docs.google.com/document/d/1...

Man, hunting for an artist is really playing with my heart. I've at least gotten a couple responses but no luck beyond that. I feel like I'm being politely shot down at a bar. The idea of doing this until March is daunting.

000

Lunar Retro @lunarretro.bsky.social · 04/01/2025

I have been in nonstop debates and arguments for 4 days now. I like it far too much and NEED to stop. I have an artist to find and as much pleasure I get from fighting, I've done nothing else. I've only found 2 artists of interest and neither has given me the TOD.

Lunar Retro @lunarretro.bsky.social · 29/12/2024

Hunting for artists for a comic project used to be so much easier. So many lazy tech bros using AI and grifters with stolen art now muddying the water.

How did I just discover that Guile is married? And he's Ken's brother in law by marriage? Man, what kinda fake fan am I?

On the writing front, I'm learning stuff about Latin for my magic system that I think is gonna be fun but it's gonna slow the new book way down.

Man, even trying something different takes my brain days to reconcile, but some work is better than no work!

Some gesture work for today. Gonna get the habit down before I develop more stamina.

I'm finally getting over my lack of confidence and unwillingness to be bad at something. I surrendered a skill I used to have to my pride and external pressure. I'm only 43. Time to reclaim what I lost. One day at a time.

020

Lunar Retro @lunarretro.bsky.social · 20/11/2024

I'm 43. I want to write for and create visual media so badly by I can't draw, only write. Better to grow into an old man who draws poorly but writes well than to remain one who only writes well.

In Metaphor, I get wanting to romance Hulkenberg and being sad you can't but Gallica is LITERALLY your ride or die. If that ain't your girl in your heart, your tastes are bad and your heart is probably empty.

There we go. www.choir-files.com is fixed, mostly. Sample chapters from two of the books are up. Probably get some of the short stories posted in the next few days as well.

I've finally followed enough people I like to allow THEM to lead me to more awesome stuff. The only algorithm I need is the human one.

Lunar Retro @lunarretro.bsky.social · 09/10/2024

Still fixing my website. I am torn between putting my stuff up as PDFs or on the site as pages. One is so much easier than the other but I worry how it looks.

I'm obsessed with the color magenta in relation to my character Lucian, but it's something that my readers will never really get to see unless these novels go graphic. I don't make enough money.

Some authors just randomly post their books everyday as ads. I stalk folks I like and fantasize about offering mine for free and they take it and read it and tell me sweet things about my children. The results are roughly the same, but fewer people hate me with the latter.

Why is Lucha Libre so amazing as a concept? The fact that these wrestlers are living anime characters is almost too much for my heart.

It's wild when you look up and realize how much a hate you have infiltrated your writing. You can tell I hate my vampires. They are sociopathic by definition, everything hates them, and it's impossible for good ones to exist. They operate like drug addicted Corpo rats. Guess the hate.

Lunar Retro @lunarretro.bsky.social · 06/09/2024

Every day I pray to a god who doesn't listen that an artist with more skill than storytelling ability stumbles upon my books and tries to seduce me into collaboration. What are the rest of y'all praying for? Big tiddie goth gfs? Rich husbands? Pfft. Amateurs. Dream the real hopeless dreams like me.

Thinking extra hard about conversations involving a terminal person who knows but won't admit their limited time for the next book. It's really slowing things down but the things are pivotal in good storytelling.

It'll be funny if the Brazilian exodus is what finally breaks Twitter.

000

Lunar Retro @lunarretro.bsky.social · 31/08/2024

I'm gonna take a leap here and ask how many Brazilians are here now? I got books to sell, but I'm too poor and dumb to get them translated into Portuguese yet. Y'all like anime, right?

If you've got the world building sickness, have you ever made a supernatural ecosystem? Something where certain creatures hunt other ones simply because they are prey? Proper, "I gotta eat to love" prey. Nothing personal. #authors #worldbuilding

How are other authors just taking pictures of themselves for their books? Who just takes a picture of their face and puts it in a profile? I gotta feel super handsome to pull that off and it doesn't last long enough to photograph. #authors

Really feel like the same way comedians get hired to punch up a script, other writers should get hired to fix the concept errors in their stories. The stupidity of villains in some works is just inexcusable.
