Spent a moment helping a friend out with leg rhythms this morn, figured I'd share for y'all! 📚 #artresources #arttutorials

A photo of legs shown from the front and side. Beside it, the words "let's simplify!" and a breakdown of the most basic rhythms found in those angles. For the front, it bellows outward as if bouncing against a surface. For the side, it dives back before adjusting at the knee and pulling forward towards the foot.

More text, saying "it feels a bit much-- but it works! (We can always tighten it up later). For now, we want to be CLEAR!" And then sketches of the rhythms pushed so it's obvious where they are going and how they have gotten there

Expanding on that

The same blue sketches of leg rhythms as before, but now there are a combination of straights and contrasting rhythms drawn overtop in red to show where we can find structure or smooth out our intense rhythms. Text reads "we add a mixture of straights and contrasting rhythms to focus on our big idea. This is based on underlying anatomy, structure." There is another sketch of this all pulled together in one drawing so that it can be seen how it all works together in a unified sketch rather than drawing overtop of an existing one, and a sketch of the basic leg anatomy showing structure of the knee and lower leg bones being overlapped by significant superficial muscles, with color coded arrows showing the contrasting rhythms and the structural straights

Start by pushing those broad rhythms to make your choices CLEAR. [a sketch of very pushed rhythms so that it's obvious where things are going. Pushed far beyond what we would see IRL].

Then, elaborate and describe. [The previous sketch turned red with lowered opacity, as new lines overtop show how I use those original rhythms as a basis for developing nuance without getting rid of the original lines]

1, 2, 3! [The two sketches put together in solid black, showing how even though lines seem to pull through and across each other the drawing is clear because it follows the underlying pushed rhythms.]

Gouache and watercolor. I've been taking traditional media requests of late during the Lackadaisy Patreon Stream. This request was "Rocky followed by baby ducks who imprinted on him." I guess he has big plans for his baby duck army. You will be able to catch the vod at Patreon.com/lackadaisy

Rocky Rickaby showing a group of six yellow baby ducks a picture of Wick while demonstrating a lead pipe. He has a suspiciously wide grin on his face as he explains his plan to them.

same image, close up on ducks and wick pic

No time for new holiday art this year I'm afraid, but here's one from...a while ago. Shout out to vintage glass ornaments - the best kind.

Illustration of a pair of anthropomorphized kittens (Rocky and Freckle from the series Lackadaisy) staring in wonder at a shimmering array of colorful, glass, Christmas tree ornaments overhead.

We made another puppet ad! (Sorry!) The overarching point is that everything is 10-20% off in the shop through Monday. But if you're not in the market, just enjoy/recoil from this bizarre puppet fever dream. #Lackadaisy youtu.be/hPfxQQICu6k

Cosplay image of Mordecai Heller from Lackadaisy. Looking like he is mid stride, taking off his hat with one hand and holding his jacket in the other.

Cosplay image of Rocky Rickaby from Lackadaisy. Him dancing in a void filled with specs of light and light coming from underneath him where his feet are.

Cosplay image of Viktor from Lackadaisy wiping his hands and looking off to the side. His sleeves are rolled up and his turtle neck is off, showing off his suspenders.

Cosplay of Sy from Lackadaisy, holding his hat in his hand, with his other hand hanging onto his jacket as he smokes a cigarette
