www.doorsopenyyc.org We went to the Avatamsaka Monastery downtown. In a previous life the building was the Mountain Equipment Co-op Store and it has been transformed by adding several floors and a traditional roof.

A Mahayana Buddhist Monastery at 1009 4 Avenue SW.
Beside the monastery is a park with teepees.

The grand hall.
There is a meditation hall on a different floor open to all.

We had a tasty vegan snack and chamomile-marigold tea grown in their organic garden in Golden British Columbia on another floor.
They had a vegan restaurant but it closed but they do have lunch for all after their Sunday morning service.

I’m pleased with my balcony garden this summer despite the wind. I’m also pleased I haven’t lost a cushion because of the wind but there have been close calls. I might as well keep watering until we get a killing frost.

I had a reunion with my former painting classmates and teacher. I asked if they feel like they are painting a canvas when they are spreading something on their toast. No ya weirdo was the response, so one of them sent me a pic of her breakfast this morning. 😂
