Luke @lukethompson85.bsky.social · 2hLocal tax laws mean dividends are better than price rises, so our shares have much higher dividends. We have huge pension funds (we call them superannuation) due to mandatory contributions and they need cash dividends to fund their outgoings. 000
Luke @lukethompson85.bsky.social · 2h@edzitron.com just listened to your latest monologue about Firmus. I’m very proud of the Australian market today, but we do have some market dynamics that make us less liable for these hoodwinks. 100
Luke @lukethompson85.bsky.social · 12hThis is a warning to companies. Don’t float AI stuff in Australia, people will actually look at your books. Unlike the Nasdaq, where they’ll give you 2T for a money pit with a cyber dream attached. 000
Luke @lukethompson85.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Fascists don’t understand that all media is warning them not to be fascist. Just like techno fascists like Musk think it’s a great idea to build the most disturbing parts of Cyberpunk tech with little to no oversight…. 010
Luke @lukethompson85.bsky.social · 05/10/2026The steps after those will get more cumbersome and expensive and we should be prepared to pay. But right now there a lot of low hanging fruit that we should focus on. 010
Luke @lukethompson85.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Bus companies that replace their diesel fleet with electric tend to save money. Electrifying your home is cheaper than using gas and doesn’t bring poisonous fumes in. There are lots of things we can all do that are generally life upgrades. 210
Luke @lukethompson85.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Riding a bike or catching the bus is pretty pragmatic IMO. Plenty of us can do the basics better for big improvements in CO2 effects and a lot of them are life improvements. EVs are way better than petrol. Riding a bike to work is nice and reduces stress, heat pump hot water is cheaper etc. 000
Luke @lukethompson85.bsky.social · 05/10/2026except for maybe a classic car. But that would be like Francis Bourgeois marvelling at the steam engine or how we still have fancy mechanical watches. I wouldn’t want to put up with all the noise and cost every day…. 010
Luke @lukethompson85.bsky.social · 05/10/2026I loved your appearance on everything electric. I especially like stories that show how greening our energy use often makes them better devices. The London cab story makes a lot of sense to me. My EV is awesome, I don’t see how I’d ever go back to petrol. 110

Luke @lukethompson85.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Those emissions regs are really kicking in. First Mazda, now Suzuki. I am excited to get all these new EV entrants. 000
Luke @lukethompson85.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Bond rates surging, it’s going to uncover a lot of hidden junk in the economy. 010
Luke @lukethompson85.bsky.social · 28/09/2026The thermal stress on an ICE engine block is enormous. It’s pretty impressive how well they are designed that they can often last ~10 years without a rebuild. Nothing in an EV gets close to those temperatures or thermal loads. 100
Luke @lukethompson85.bsky.social · 28/09/2026It’s actually broken. I tried to put every letter in every space and the rest only turn white now: 000

Luke @lukethompson85.bsky.social · 27/09/2026USA vs uk at American football would be quite funny. Are there many sports where USA vs UK would be competitive? Maybe golf and snooker? 100
Luke @lukethompson85.bsky.social · 27/09/2026I’m a bulldogs man. I’m bandwagoning knights. Roosters getting another champion halfback to try get a premiership odds ludicrous and shouldn’t be rewarded. Plus this knights team is mostly pretty likeable. Dom Young beating the roosters for a comp would be pretty fun. 010

Luke @lukethompson85.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Don’t we have laws against this stuff? Just put out an arrest warrant and fine the company. We souls also be asking the FBI to raid and ensure the Medicare data is deleted. The fact that AI (a python script with extra steps) did it, doesn’t absolve anyone of guilt. 000

Luke @lukethompson85.bsky.social · 19/09/2026Politicians trying to change my vote based on trans issues, usually have no clue about what they are talking about and no plan for everyone else either. It’s just beating up on marginalised people. 0183
Luke @lukethompson85.bsky.social · 19/09/2026I don’t understand much about the trans community. That’s why it is extremely important that I not make any decisions about them. Not everyone needs to have an opinion on everything. You can just let people live their lives and not worry about it. 2291
Luke @lukethompson85.bsky.social · 19/09/2026Shame on everyone who stays in the room. Journalist association should turn its back. 140
Luke @lukethompson85.bsky.social · 18/09/2026I don’t think you can be a comedian and “get into politics”. No matter which side. You should always have personal separation so you can joke about everything. Rogan never saw that and it’s one of the many reasons why Rogan sucks as a comedian. 000
Luke @lukethompson85.bsky.social · 18/09/2026He’s probably being separated to stop him getting hurt. Even prisoners dont like rapists and there will be someone who wants to be able to say they did itto. 000
Luke @lukethompson85.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Plus, if it goes bust and we haven’t given them tax handouts, we’ll get to keep the renewable capacity they build. 000
Luke @lukethompson85.bsky.social · 17/09/2026IMO, it’s why we should regulate it and build it here. If we power it with renewables and help the EU set and enforce carbon tariffs, we would have a competitive advantage. Just need to keep the battery penetration high so that renewables are the only new power worth deploying. 100
Luke @lukethompson85.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Canada will be more European than the UK. No wonder the Scots, Welsh and North Irish want to leave the UK…. 010
Luke @lukethompson85.bsky.social · 14/09/2026I still don’t understand why no journalist has found where he is. Surely some nurse or janitor will healthcare would see him hiding as disgusting and want to leak it. 000
Luke @lukethompson85.bsky.social · 14/09/2026So it’s key selling point is it has no standards? What a wonderful world we live in…. 070
Luke @lukethompson85.bsky.social · 14/09/2026No thanks. Let’s get them to build renewable power here, so when they go bust we can buy their assets cheaply. Just don’t give them tax breaks or copyright carve outs. 010
Luke @lukethompson85.bsky.social · 14/09/2026IMO, NFL is only good to watch with friends, beers and finger food. Watching it alone is boring AF. With friends and beers, there’s violence and plenty of time to chat and drink between important things. Soccer is too tense to drink properly and is best enjoyed as an invested fan full of anxiety. 000
Luke @lukethompson85.bsky.social · 14/09/2026If we concentrated on the economics, we’d all wake up. Instead, they have to make up nonsense to distract us. I think AI will be powerful, but not LLMs and these companies don’t have the cash reserves to wait around for the next development in computer science before they go bankrupt. 000
Luke @lukethompson85.bsky.social · 13/09/2026Surely someone just needs to be arrested for the things the bot does and it all ends. If I ran a script that brute force hacked hugging face, I’d be put in jail. Farmers have been put in jail for fixing their own John Deere tractor. Two speed justice at its finest. 000
