I'm guessing @tsnofficial.bsky.social has no policy on its journalists publicly endorsing candidates in elections? (Serious question too, TSN actually does legitimate sports journalism)
Jennifer Hedger Earlier this year I met with @BradMBradford I have lived in Toronto for 25 years. For the past 5, the city has been in a steep decline. Crime. Open drug use. Gridlock. Garbage. Safety concerns on the TTC. It didn't used to be like this. Toronto can return to being a thriving city but it begins with leadership. We need a serious Mayor. Get out and vote.

Sorry, to clarify: Jesse is theorizing Ukraine made realistic-looking digital replicas (ie photoshop) of KGB documents as a way of preserving the real documents, rather than use a photocopier or take photos of the original A process that would be significantly more time consuming and unreliable
common practice for intelligence agencies to create what are called digital surrogates, or replicas of historical files in order to archive them and to make them accessible.
According to the Ukrainian newspaper, the Lee of Herald, Ukraine's intelligence unit, the SBU, has at times had to, quote, scramble to digitize huge troves of vulnerable KGB documents.
This is actually happening right now, as Ukraine is struggling to preserve files that are endangered by the current war.
And it also happened back in 1991, when Russia was rapidly
destroying KGB files at the same time that a newly independent Ukraine was rapidly trying to obtain and preserve them.
So I can't verify that the dossier that Chris Alex: Q search dto parliament is a cro

Here is @jessebrown.bsky.social’s big gotcha moment: He acknowledges the purported 1980s KGB documents were digital forgeries created in the 1990s But he theorizes that the KGB forged their own documents and created a backup using a digital typewriter font (rather than simply use a photocopier!??)
Because even though the documents include digital
elements that could not have been produced in the early 1980s, that does not necessarily mean that they're forgeries.
On the KGB's way out from
Ukraine, people were attempting to destroy active working files.
Archives were being transferred back to Moscow.
That is Mitch Liedem, the guy who is suing David Pugliese.
So the active files that were, you know, being destroyed, damaged, poor quality, that sort of thing, were Ukraine needed to be able to utilize those files potentially for counterintelligence purposes from what we can understand. And the dates do line up. The font in question, it's called FF Trixie Pro, if you're curious about fonts. It came out in 1991.
I sent questions to reporter Taylor Nokes to see if he was aware of the practice of creating digital surrogates. And if so, whether or not he was able to rule that out in the case of the Pugliese dossier.
He did not respond.

Oh wow In May, I reported Alberta separatists were using an app developed by GOP operatives with ties to US ambassador Pete Hoekstra @theglobeandmail.com now reports the same operatives flew to Calgary on a private jet for a secret meeting with separatist leaders: pressprogress.ca/alberta-sepa...
The pitch began with a prayer.
On an afternoon in late January, Mitch Sylvestre, the leader of Alberta's most prominent separatist organization, gathered with three of his lieutenants in a boardroom not far from the executive hangars at the Calgary International Airport, where private jets shuttle in and out of the city away from prying eyes.
It was a few hours before thousands of Albertans would gather near the city centre at a rally to launch the separatist campaign. But this meeting, convened behind closed doors a half-hour drive away, was invite only.
The Alberta Prosperity Project chose the location to accommodate its guests, Republican political strategists from Michigan who helped Donald Trump win the state in the 2024 U.S. presidential election.
The American delegation travelled to Calgary to sell them on software developed for Republicans to get out the vote - and how it could be used to wrench Alberta from Confederation.
"They were young Christians. Capable, intelligent people," Mr. Sylvestre said. "We prayed before we started the meeting.""There is no secrecy'
One of the key figures behind the Michigan software company has expressed strong views on Alberta.
On July 1, Mr. Born wrote on social media: "On this Canada Day, I hope this is the last year Alberta is part of Canada." He has also called for U.S. annexation of the province.
A hunter, outdoorsman and commercial real estate agent in Grand Rapids, Mr. Born is the stepson of J.C. Huizenga, a wealthy Republican donor and founder of National Heritage Academies, a network of conservative charter schools in the U.S.
Mr. Wierda is the nephew of Erik Prince, who founded and ran the private military contractor Blackwater before it was sold to investors in 2010, and Betsy DeVos, the education secretary during Mr. Trump's first term.

I guess I can understand Keith Wilson wanting to keep someone’s identity secret I don’t understand why Keith Wilson would give this person access to his personal YouTube account and let them add links to a third party webstore or why Keith Wilson is accepting returns for t-shirts at his law office

Wilson stressed he had no say over the content Rise of Alberta posted and had
"nothing to do with" the money the store was making.

He does provide some assistance to the person running the Rise of Alberta account, he said, including listing its merchandise on the "store" tab of his
personal YouTube channel.

"I let him do that," he said. "It doesn't cost me anything and helps him."

Returns of unwanted Rise of Alberta merchandise are also sent to the mailing address for his law firm, he said, though he added there weren't many. ("Those blankets are amazing," he said. "I have three.")

When that happens, Jewish thought is much more forceful: you must prevent the perpetrator from causing harm. Jewish law developed two character sketches to describe such scenarios. The first is known as a "mosar" — a Jewish person who informs to oppressive authorities, potentially leading to the imprisonment, torture or death of community members. The second, called a "rodef," refers to a Jew who is actively pursuing another with the intent to harm or kill them. In both scenarios, the law is clear that a jew is duty-bound to step in. Meanwhile, the Western Standard's opinion editor claims he had numerous phone calls with "Daniel Robson" and claims he spoke with an Ontario accent On the other hand, Derek Fildebrandt says they rejected several pitches because "Daniel Robson" seemed to be "propagandizing for foreign governments"
The outlet became aware of the questions surrounding Mr. Robson after being contacted by other concerned publications, Mr. Fildebrandt said. He said the Western Standard had previously rejected several of Mr. Robson's pitches. "I'm informed that a significant number of what he had submitted was what I would classify as propagandizing for foreign governments," he said. Mr. Oldcorn said he had communicated repeatedly with Mr. Robson during the past year, including over the phone. The last time they spoke was in late July or early August, he said, when Mr. Robson explained that he would be unavailable for a few weeks because of upcoming dental surgeries. "The person I spoke to on the phone ... The accent was clearly what you would expect in Ontario," Mr. Oldcorn said. "There was nothing in his voice that would make me think he was Moroccan in any way, shape or form."

According to @theglobeandmail.com, the email account used by "Daniel Robson" was used to register a Moroccan Microsoft account earlier this year The fake journalist's articles published in Canada also "praised Morocco's King Mohammed VI" and encouraged closer ties between Canada and Morocco
Several of the Robson articles published in Canada also praised Morocco's King Mohammed VI and urged Canada to form a security partnership with the African country.

The Globe identified a link between Morocco and Mr. Robson. According to a digital research tool, Mr. Robson's e-mail address was used to register a Moroccan Microsoft account in March, 2026. That account was last active in early September, records show.

The column goes on to call for Lewis to be excommunicated, but at a bare minimum, this is very loaded rhetoric More background here: www.jta.org/archive/kill...
Killer of Rabin Testifies: Jewish Law Dictated Actions"It was clear from Jewish law that 'din rodef applied to the prime minister," Amir reportedly testified Monday, referring to a ritual command to kill anyone who intends to cause the death of Jews.
The confessed assassin has said Rabin's peace policies endangered Israelis.

"I know Jewish law and 'din rodef means that if you've tried everything else and nothing works, then you have to kill him," Amir told the court.

The National Post is using language that seems wildly irresponsible and dangerous here Citing ancient “Jewish law,” it labels Avi Lewis as a “rodef” The ultranationalist extremist who assassinated Yitzhak Rabin rationalized his killing on the same basis: www.theguardian.com/world/2020/o...
None of this applies, however, when a Jewish person presents a clear and present danger to the Jewish community. When that happens, Jewish thought is much more forceful: you must prevent the perpetrator from

Protecting the community and its members is the most important thing. It was around then that Yigal Amir, an earnest law student, made up his mind to kill the prime minister. Later he would insist he was not swayed by extremist rabbis; he had reached his own decision that Rabin - through his willingness to cede territory and to allow the creation of a Palestinian Authority, with its own armed police force - was a rodef and therefore a legitimate target. He got a weapon easily enough. With his brother, Amir was working on the creation of an anti-Palestinian militia. Nor was access difficult; on at least three occasions before the rally, Amir attended public events where Rabin was present. He was waiting for the right moment: he didn't want to shoot and miss.

If I’m reading this correctly, Toronto mayoral candidate Brad Bradford’s campaign is asking volunteers to give them full access to their contact lists on their *personal* cell phones? www.nationalobserver.com/2026/09/28/i...
'You don't need to freak out about this'
Introducing Bradford's supporters to the app on the Zoom call, Punia instructed them to give the app permission to access all of their contacts.

"Do not give it partial contact ability, give it full. And what I want to say to you guys here is, you don't need to freak out about this," said Punia. He reassured them that only contacts they marked as known or potential Bradford supporters would be given to the campaign.

One attendee hesitated as she had over 2,400 contacts on her phone. She was instructed to give the app access to all of them and mark them one by one according to their level of support for Bradford.

Today, on Ottawa’s 200th birthday, I reflect on our city’s proud heritage
WHISKEY AND WICKEDNESS
A BASTION OF TAVERNS AND BROTHELS

From the earliest days of Bytown, Lowertown had been a bustling row of taverns, inns, and brothels.
These trades catered well to the largely seasonal workforce of lumbermen and navies in Bytown.
Every spring, having spent several cold months in the woods, hundreds of lumberjacks would arrive in Bytown with half a year's wages in their pockets and eager for the diversions that Bytown had to offer.
As early as 1832, Bytown had nine licensed drinking establishments and countless illegal operations, many selling raw white whiskey known as poitín. This number ballooned to over 70 taverns and inns by 1852. Taverns such as Isaac Bérichon's City Hotel operated in Lowertown. Richmond Landing, just west of modern-day Parliament Hill, and Corktown near the canal, were home to more colourful establishments like Mother Firth's Inn. Many workers drank a gallon of whiskey a week. The streets were often filled with drunkenness, dancing, and fighting. Violence was commonplace.
In Corktown, Irish workers frequented Mother McGinty's tavern. Like Mother Firth, Mother McGinty was known as a formidable matron who could more than hold her own against unruly patrons. Said to have been armed with a winning smile and backed by an arm that she was reputed to swing with great potency, Mother McGinty ensured that the beer, rum, and poitín flowed freely. McGinty, who catered to often cash-poor labourers, kept track of her patrons' tallies on a chalkboard behind the bar; a short stroke for a half-pint, a full stroke for a quart, and an eagle's talon for a gallon!

"Daniel Robson's" writings on Tumbler Ridge are particularly bizarre and seem clearly AI-generated to me Even though this was a day or two after a school shooting that left 6 dead and dozens injured, it goes into all these weird self-congratulatory diatribes praising the Western Standard's coverage
Standard WATCH

= NEWS Western Standard's early local reporting matters - because the vacuum is itself a risk In the early hours of a mass-casualty event, there is always a dangerous gap between what authorities can responsibly confirm and what communities are already saying in real time. That gap is where misinformation thrives, where reputations are destroyed, where panic spreads faster than facts. The role of credible regional journalism in that window is not to "compete" with the police, but to keep the public anchored to what can be responsibly reported as events unfold. That is exactly why Western Standard's early, locally sourced coverage matters in this case. By publishing what residents were saying - while attributing it clearly to local knowledge and the on-the-ground reality of a small community - the outlet performed the kind of high-value local function that national media often cannot. Readers can see that approach in Western Standard's exclusive report on the suspect being identified by locals, which provided immediate context in the critical period when rumours metastasize fastest. This is not a trivial point. Canada still lacks a coherent culture of "managed uncertainty," where public agencies provide minimal, timely, verifiable facts to reduce theNEWS It is the profile of a response that was forced to confront a situation that had already crossed the point of no return. The uncomfortable implication is simple: if Canada hangs its prevention hopes on response time, it is already conceding the argument. The "win condition" is not shaving minutes off emergency arrival. It is building an upstream capability that catches the escalation phase before the first shots are fired. This is where Western Standard's developing coverage becomes valuable for public understanding, because it has been tracking the operational details as they emerge, without flattening the story into generic grief rhetoric. The outlet's UPDATED report on the RCMP confirming the suspect's identity and revising the death toll matters precisely because the revisions themselves are part of the story. They show how fragile "known facts" can be in the first 48 hours, and why a prevention-minded country must care as much about information discipline as it does about perimeter control.

This is absolutely deranged: Months before murdering 6 people and injuring 27 more, ChatGPT told the teen school shooter in Tumbler Ridge, BC that using a Remington 870 pump-action shotgun is “brutal” in a “hallway, indoors or a crowded classroom” because “close quarters” is that gun’s “playground”

“A member of the Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry when the pandemic hit, Sean Ward was discharged for refusing to be vaccinated”
A member of the Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry when the pandemic hit, Sean Ward was discharged for refusing to be vaccinated, they told Global News.
Speaking on the condition they would not be identified, the sources said the former infantry soldier had voiced a wide range of falsehoods about the coronavirus.
One of the sources said that some of the conspiracies he spouted were antisemitic, blaming Jews for COVID-19 - a meme spread by extremists during the pandemic.

Surrey South MLA Brent Chapman, who is the husband of former BC Conservative leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay, says he is abandoning the BC Conservatives and joining the right-wing splinter party OneBC (Findlay is still planning to run for a seat, but has not yet indicated if she too will join OneBC)
September 22, 2026 To the members of the Conservative Party of BC, I have been a member of the Conservative Party of BC for 15 years. When John Rustad personally asked me to run as a candidate, I took that seriously. I understood that I was being asked because I reflected the principles and values the party wanted to represent. At the time, I was optimistic about what we were building. I believed the Conservative name meant something, and that the principles and values we put before British Columbians in 2024 gave the party a clear sense of purpose and direction. Over time, it became clear to me that we did not all share the same understanding of those principles or of the platform we had run on. The disagreements within caucus, and increasingly in public, made that difficult to ignore. I chose to stay because I believed there was still value in working from within to defend the Conservative principles and platform we had put before British Columbians. I believed the party was still worth fighting for. The leadership process became the point at which the membership would decide the future direction of the party. They made that decision through a rigorous democratic process, and anyone in caucus had the opportunity to participate in it. What followed left me questioning whether I could continue to have a place in this party. The last few months have also made this deeply personal for me. I have watched my wife, Kerry- Lynne, endure attacks from people she once stood beside. I have watched people determined to tear down someone who has spent decades serving her community, her province, and her country. At the same time, there are still good people in the Conservative Party of BC caucus I'm blessed to call friends. It has been a privilege to work alongside them. I am also incredibly grateful for the support I received from the entire caucus during my cancer treatments in 2025. I will not forget it.Today, I will join OneBC. Above all, I am grateful to the people of Surrey South for the trust they placed in me to represent them. It is an honour and a privilege. Thank you,

The Toronto Sun's Joe Warmington, who was yelled at for filming vulnerable people on the Danforth last week, was honked at and yelled at by local residents in Belleville today Warmington was lurking around a residential neighbourhood filming the now dead suspect's mother's house with his phone
Joe Warmington & @joe_warmington • 43m This is the home where Sean Ward live with his mother between Trenton and Belleville in Quincy West. The 29-year-old suspect in the synagogue shooting died Tuesday and Belleville Police, who have one officer still in hospital as a role result of shooting, have taken control of this property and exercising a search warrant. In this report, you'll hear a neighbour drive-by and express his consternation about Media being there and suggesting that people leave the family alone. He did not express any condolences to the Police Officer or to the Jewish synagogue members who endured the horror of this terror attack on Yom Kippur.
