The BIGGEST game in National League history this weekend: Rochdale vs York City. We’re both desperate for automatic promotion, but there’s a bigger message from Parliament to the pitch: this is proof we need #3UP. Bring on Saturday, may the best team win. 🏆⚽️ #ycfc #rafc

Games don’t come bigger than #RAFC vs #YCFC this weekend. Two 100+ point teams head-to-head on the final day for promotion? Proof we need #3UP. That’s why @paulwaughmp.bsky.social and I have written to DAZN asking for it to be free-to-air. Up the Minstermen! 🔴🔵📄⬇️
The letter reads:

Dear Shay,

We are writing regarding the Rochdale vs York City fixture on Saturday 25 April 2026, with a request that this match be made publicly and freely available to watch on YouTube.

The National League has experienced a genuine renaissance this season, and this game is arguably the biggest in the division’s history. Two teams have surpassed the 100-point mark, yet only one will gain automatic promotion as a result of this match. That storyline has captured the attention of the football world and beyond, and we believe it would be enormously powerful for this moment to be accessible to the widest possible audience.

We are particularly keen to see this match made free-to-air in the context of the #3UP campaign. The National League has reached a point where many clubs now operate fully professionally, and recent history shows that those promoted are not only competitive in League Two, but often go on to thrive. Indeed, no club promoted from the National League has ever been relegated the following season, and we hope that record will continue with the winner of this game.

Recent seasons show just how compelling the National League has become. In the 2021/22 season, Wrexham and Stockport both pushed the title race to the wire and have since captivated fans through their progress in the Football League, with Wrexham now challenging near the Championship play-offs and Stockport firmly in the League One play-offs.

The 2022/23 season raised the bar even further. Wrexham won the title with a record-breaking 111 points, while Notts County amassed 107 points and still missed out on automatic promotion, the first time two clubs surpassed 100 points in the same campaign. This makes the current season only the second such occurrence. Even so, the stakes of a genuine winner-takes-all finale such as this surpass anything seen before. Put bluntly, it is box office television. While we fully appreciate the commercial considerations involved, British football has a strong tradition of making landmark sporting moments free-to-air when public interest is at its highest. Cup finals and international fixtures are obvious examples, and more recently, even commercially held events such as the Champions League Final have been made available free-to-air due to their broader cultural significance. In fact, we ultimately believe it may be commercially compelling for DAZN to consider our request. By this fixture being made free-to-air, more people may choose to stream DAZN and National League games in future.

As you know, and indeed supported, KSI recently streamed Dagenham & Redbridge vs Hampton & Richmond Borough for free on YouTube, a National League first. At the time of writing, that broadcast has attracted over 345,000 views. Given the global and domestic interest in this season-long title battle, we believe this fixture represents an even more compelling opportunity to showcase the league to a worldwide audience.

We will both be watching the game, with Paul attending in Rochdale and Luke joining supporters at a watch-along event at the LNER in York that has sold in excess of 4,000 tickets. However, for many constituents who may have missed out on a ticket, or who are unable to attend organised watch-alongs, making this match free-to-air would be an enormous gesture and a powerful demonstration of generosity from both DAZN and the National League.

This feels like the national moment the #3UP campaign has been waiting for. Ultimately, one club will miss out on what would otherwise be a deserved promotion. By ensuring as many people as possible can watch this match, you would help shine a spotlight on the injustice of a single automatic promotion place and potentially contribute to meaningful change for the future of the game.

Thank you very much for considering this request. We hope it is something you will feel able to support.

In any EFL league, both us and Rochdale would already be celebrating promotion. Instead? A final-day head-to-head between us and #RAFC, despite both teams hitting 100+ points. Brutal but fitting. So close yesterday, but it wasn’t to be. All to play for next weekend! #ycfc 🔴🔵

A helpful reminder for anyone who needs one: Reform UK was called the Brexit Party before 2021. In 2019, Farage said there was “no difference between the Brexit Party and UKIP in terms of policy.” Same politics. New branding. Don’t be fooled.

Reform pretend to be on the side of working people. The reality? They’re led by snobby millionaires who have no idea how much cost-of-living support matters to families. They’re not on your side. Labour is.
A piece from the Mirror, which reads as follows:

All the cost of living help available from April

Energy Bills

The Government says households will save an average of €150 on energy bills from April as the price cap falls by 7%. This is on top of the £150 Warm Home Discount for eligible customers.

Rail Fare Freeze

Regulated rail fares across England and parts of Wales are frozen for 2026. Ministers say some commuters could save around £315 a year.

Pay Boost

The National Living Wage and Minimum Wage rise by 4% in April. Full-time workers on the NLW will get around £900 more a year, while younger workers could see £1,500 extra.

Prescription Charges

Prescription costs in England will stay under £10 for 2026. All exemptions and Prepayment Certificates remain unchanged.

State Pension Increase

The State Pension rises by 4.8% from April 2026. This takes the full weekly amount to £241.30.

Universal Credit Two-Child Limit Removed

From April 2026, families will receive Universal Credit for all children, regardless of family size. The Government says this could lift 450,000 children out of poverty.

30 Hours Free Childcare

Eligible working parents can access up to 30 hours of funded childcare for children aged 9 months to school age. Officials say this could save families up to £7,500 a year.

Free Breakfast Clubs

Free breakfast clubs are being rolled out to every primary school in England. Ministers say this could save families up to £450 a year while supporting children's learning.

𝐂𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 ⚡ From today, households will see around £117 off energy bills thanks to the price cap first proposed by Ed Miliband in 2013. Labour’s plan for clean, homegrown energy means lower bills, greater energy security and protection from global price shocks.

The first three? As they are not in power, they have done no damage yet. But this is the risk of Reform. The “tax cuts” trick? They have already tried this with their councils, and it should be a warning sign for everyone ⚠️ They have not got a clue, have they? 👎 3/3

“Trail hunting” isn’t some quaint countryside tradition. It’s a loophole to keep fox hunting alive. Foxes torn apart while right-wing politicians look the other way. Or even worse, defend it. No longer. Labour's a step closer to banning it for good. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Strip it back and it’s simple:   The Tories and Reform have NO plan, NO detail, NO substance.   Just more props to distract from their total lack of answers. And total failure on Iran. NO THANKS 👎🏼 7/7

❌ More drilling in the North Sea wouldn’t bring bills down this year ❌ Attacking renewables is a recipe for energy insecurity   So instead of credible policy, what do we get? 🚛 Branded trucks   ⛽ Petrol station gimmicks   ⚽ Holding shirts up in stadiums It’s all performance. Not politics. 6/

🔟In the end the most shocking thing was not what we saw on screen. It was the effect the manosphere has on the teenage boys absorbed in it. They could be ordinary lads anywhere in Britain. ❌

9⃣The influencers themselves seemed hooked on monetisation and controversy for clicks. In other words they looked addicted to social media too, streaming for hours on end themselves. 💷
150
Luke Charters MP @lukecharters.bsky.social · 16/03/2026
8⃣Before becoming an MP I worked in counter fraud. Much of what was shown reminded me of the tactics behind get rich quick scams. In many ways the manosphere looks less like a movement, and more like a giant pyramid scheme built on the insecurities of young men. 📉
1112
Luke Charters MP @lukecharters.bsky.social · 16/03/2026
7⃣A huge theme was distrust of the MSM. Many of the influencers tried to bait Louis and his crew, and the hostility was obvious. Which right wing politicians in the UK does that remind you of? 📺
150
Luke Charters MP @lukecharters.bsky.social · 16/03/2026
6⃣Another disturbing thread was the exploitation of body dysmorphia among young men. I’ve spoken in Parliament about the rise of this among teenage boys and the role of toxic ‘gymfluencers’, who prey on those insecurities to sell supplements and products. 🏋️
140
Luke Charters MP @lukecharters.bsky.social · 16/03/2026
5⃣I fear male loneliness drives many young men towards this content. Toxic material does not bring boys together. It isolates them further. That problem has only been worsened by the loss of youth services after years of austerity. 😕
190
Luke Charters MP @lukecharters.bsky.social · 16/03/2026
4⃣A striking feature was how many of the toxic influencers Louis met were removed from mainstream platforms like YouTube. Yet the content has not disappeared online. It simply moved, instead appearing on platforms such as Telegram and Kick. 🖥️
250
Luke Charters MP @lukecharters.bsky.social · 16/03/2026
3⃣Watching it I kept thinking about Adolescence. But this felt more unsettling because it is not fiction. It is real. This is not just about what happens on the sunny beaches of Marbella or Miami. It is about what young boys are being exposed to online every day here in the UK. 🎥
171
Luke Charters MP @lukecharters.bsky.social · 16/03/2026
2⃣Louis met many young men who didn’t start their online journey looking for hate. Many just wanted self help or a bit of direction. But algorithms quickly pushed them towards more extreme content, capturing them in the process. 💬
191
Luke Charters MP @lukecharters.bsky.social · 16/03/2026
1⃣ Sickening misogyny was on full display. As the documentary went on the influencers revealed a worldview built on grievance and resentment. Preying on vulnerable young men in the process. It is hard not to notice that some politicians in the UK trade in the same politics of division and distrust. ⚠️
