the fact we STILL do not have a dcu batman is insane to me. he is THE face of the company, whether he should be or not is another debate, he is, that is a fact. he gets the games, the shows, the majority of comic runs, the crossovers. it's all batman all the time. why is he not cast?

start at the heart, vein and branch outward. superman gives you cosmic level, wonder woman gives you magic level, batman gives you street level. from there you have a justice league. then the titans. then the legion. then the outsiders. then fucking batman inc whatever literally anything you want.

i've had many conversations about this, but if you reboot dc studios and put me as the head? my first action is casting superman, wonder woman, and batman. you cannot do anything until you have the 3 most important characters locked in. everything and everyone else connects to them in some way.

i'm allowed to be disappointed, and i'm allowed to be pissed off at gunn's overall attitude.

forgive me for the rant, i am so passionate about the things i love and dc is at the top of that list. i have spent my entire life loving dc comics, that won't change any time soon. i have written fanfics and aus, i have dedicated accounts to characters, i have dreamt of a live action universe.

i love the guardians trilogy, i loved peacemaker, i LOVE superman '25. as a director and a creative he is one of the best in the genre, no doubt. as a studio head he is proving project to project that maybe this role isn't for him.

these are his promises that either haven't yet happened, or are outright cancelled.

paradise lost, brave and the bold, the batman part 2, the lanterns finale connecting to the finale of peacemaker season 2, an interconnected feeling to the dcu, any level of consistency across projects, quality control, only greenlighting finished scripts.

as a lifelong dc fan, as a james gunn movie fan, it's just insulting dude idk what else to say. get off of threads, put your fucking phone down, and deliver what you have promised.

james gunn has ALWAYS been online. to a detrimental effect earlier in his career lol but that's a whole other talking point i won't get into. my issue here, is that the dcu he promised does not exist, and what does exist is heavily flawed but you cannot critique it without him laughing at you.

yeah sometimes it was funny, but it really felt embarrassing and unprofessional at times once he stopped doing that (as much lol) the on screen product had a chance to progress without tk's twitter rants playing in the back of your mind

as an aew there was a period from 2019 until i wanna say 2022ish where the boss tk was SO online. like you couldn't go to twitter after an episode of dynamite to share your thoughts or talk with mutuals, without seeing him replying to people the second you open the app.

i think it's embarrassing and such a bad look to be the head of a company / studio / writers room, and be online laughing at valid criticisms, arguing with people in your replies, and incorrecting people who aren't even wrong they're just sharing their opinions...

manhunters have emotions and organic forms, there's a corps but hal is entirely alone, there's A singular guardian who does not act like on it is so inconsistent, features many loose threads and pointless references for the sake of a reference, and is not satisfying in any single way

but then he's overseeing the entire studio, greenlights, and then praises the lanterns project we got which you know... started off great and then declined... rather than a green lantern story featuring faithful lore, it's just whatever with names used where the fundamental concept does not match

it's so bizarre because you look at guardians of the galaxy and it's like... dude you should make a green lantern movie just do THIS but with the four corpsemen and some alien corps members

maybe it's also because knull basically has the same emblem and he has been absolutely "the batman who laughsed" lol

either way, i fuck with VENOM i care little whether he has the big white spider, just keep the gold & straight human teeth FAR away from me...

maybe it's in part due to not loving spider-man and venom's connection anyway as it feels like too many layers at times maybe it's because i love those bad movies or maybe it's because i grew up playing ultimate spider-man on the ps2 repeatedly where he doesnt get the spider until the end

i think it's funny when people argue about venom's spider logo, they get so heated if it's too thin or too wide, the legs going over the shoulders are a mac thing not eddie etc etc brother i'm personally moving for the unused sony V concept
