Digging around Family Search, I've realized I'm descended from Nicaraguan migrants over a century ago, which I find touching; somehow they made a home as farmers and are buried in the land they tilled (metaphorically, they're buried in a town in the province I grew in). Costa Rican dream, baby.

There are elections today in Costa Rica. I fulfilled my duty and voted, did so for Broad Front (left party) for president and Assembly (unicameral legislative body). They're probably not getting elected. I'm pessimistic that the current administration's politics will be continued, but we'll see.

The current Costa Rican administration has loosened tariffs on foreign rice, yet there seems to be no actual decrease in prices to make me trust in a general relaxation of rules; national production of rice as our staple food has gone to shit these past few years, so there seems to be few positives.
