I have started putting together my upcoming article on an outing of the young Charles V and his household when he was under the care of his Aunt, Margaret of Austria. It is absolutely incredible to look at the sheer number of staff who accompanied him, with some prominent names on there as well.

According to a book I have come across from 1888, Margaret of Austria would give advice to her Maids of Honour - counselling them to beware of the deceptive promises of lovers, and be wary of illusions that could cost more than a tear.....

#OTD 1912: Titanic sank. The next day, newspapers reported NO LIVES LOST. How did this happen? During wireless chatter, someone asked: "Are the Titanic passengers safe?” The answer came: "The ship is being towed to Halifax and everyone is ok." That 2nd transmission didnt refer to the Titanic.
A collection of newspapers declaring that no lives were lost in the sinking of the Titanic.
