They responded not only to % of the moon illuminated, but to altitude, and distance, foraging more when the moon is bigger AND closer to the earth 🌕, and less when the moon is far away and small 🌒 Really keen to further explore this, including physiological effects! Let me know if you're keen 😉

Really excited to be part of a round table discussion on use of #MotusWTS as a tool for population reinforcement tomorrow afternoon at the Life Connect Ricotí Congreso in Madrid. Also really enjoyed the super quick train from Oviedo to Madrid taking me through all the Spanish landscapes!

Members of @ecobird.bsky.social are prepping for the next fieldwork season in the #Taitahills in Kenya. The team will be trialling #MotusWTS 🐦🔊 to track dispersal of #PlacidGreenbuls. We have practice oranges in the place of birds! 🐦 😅

Mobile sensorgnome on a pole! Testing to see if we can get through dense vegetation to get detections from nightingales. Accompanied by glorious sunrises.

We were also treated to this INCREDIBLE sunrise over the Senegambian border. Along with monkeys, parrots, pelicans, yellow billed kites and hooded vultures.

We rigged up the test #MotusWTS #sensrognome receiver today and yesterday to look at range and see where we should put the real thing at Stala and Kartong Bird Observatory. Did some walk tests with the tag - channelling my inner nightingale!

Very excited to finally say it's online!! New paper in @society4conbio.bsky.social Conservation Biology on how we can use #MotusWTS automated VHF across Europe to understand more about flyways and our declining migratory species. We hope this will push more collaboration across the continent!
