Finally played the full 8-round scenario of John Company by @wehrlegig.games. Really great stuff, I think it’s my favorite way to play now

“Sometimes a minute or two” I’m going to be thinking about this for the rest of the day, this is a take that could only have come from someone whose booked his own travel about as often as Trump has

Seems about right I do exist in this funny dynamic where, with my family, I feel like a radical communist, but among most of my friends I feel downright moderate

With `for..else`: And, really, not to be arrogant, but I have trouble believing the interaction between `break` and `else` in this example is prohibitively confusing.
Code example containing:

let mut inputs = Punctuated::new();

// Search for a specific argument, and accumulate all non-matching
// args into `inputs`
let arg = for arg in args {
    match arg {
        FnArg::Typed(arg) if arg.attrs.iter().any(is_args_attr) => break arg,
        arg => inputs.push(arg),
    }
} else {
    return Err(syn::Error::new(
        span,
        "#[debate::main] function with more than one argument must \
        use #[args] to identify the CLI arguments parameter",
    ))
};

inputs.extend(args);

// Use the discovered `arg`

This can be done with filter_map, but it's ugly and the side-effect in the filter map is unpleasant
Code example containing

let mut inputs = Punctuated::new();

// Search for a specific argument, and accumulate all non-matching
// args into `inputs`
let arg = args
    .find_map(|arg| {
        match arg {
            FnArg::Typed(arg) if arg.attrs.iter().any(is_args_attr) => return Some(arg),
            arg => {
            	inputs.push(arg);
              	None
          	},
        }
    })
    .ok_or_else(|| {
        syn::Error::new(
            span,
            "#[debate::main] function with more than one argument must \
            use #[args] to identify the CLI arguments parameter",
        )
    })?;

inputs.extend(args);

// Use the discovered `arg`

This, and also remember that they will actively seek the most provocative ways to say anything, and the more you scold them the more they’ll do it. @penny-arcade.com understood this two decades ago.

Founding fathers: our system is great, it's selt-sustaining and self-correcting in the presence of selfish or autocratic actors, it only breaks down if there are consolidated political parties, so don't do that.
Game theorists: your system incentivizes immediate consolidation of political power into parties, and therefore is fundamentally, systemically broken
Founding fathers: that's ridiculous, just don't make parties and it's fine
Founding fathers: *immediately create political parties*

Gonna be thinking about this for a while. Because of course I absolutely understand the need for projects to close all contributions to stem the tide of AI slop.

anyone know how to contact ijl, creator of orjson, for a small feature request?
seeking help & advice
•••
Sorry if this is an off-topic question. IJL has created the excellent orjson python library (written in rust). However, assuming due to Al spam, they've disabled PRs and Issues.
I have a legitimate, small, feature-request that's a blocker for us to adopt orjson but cannot find a way to contact them to report it.
I totally respect and understand the burden of open-source maintaining nowadays but does anyone know them or where I can get a hold of them? Tried the email address in the license but no response so far. If you do please send a PM, don't want to dox them.

If they see this: the feature request is adding a OPT_PASSTHROUGH_ENUM flag. We have custom serialization of enums that we cannot change due to backwards compatibility but the library does not allow you to override this.

Can feel myself getting more obsessed with how unhinged this is by the minute. Why do they prominently advertise that “don’t worry, we made it vulnerable to knives and gunfire, here are its weak points”
