Luc Perkins @lucperkins.dev · 11/09/2026Hard to explain how weird Threads is. For some reason, maybe purely aesthetic, every post just *seems* fake. An obviously not-fake Threads post by a personal friend somehow feels faker than an obviously fake tweet. Cursed platform. 201
Luc Perkins @lucperkins.dev · 05/09/2026Thing we're going to have to reckon with: LLMs bring massive productivity gains in software, and if you're a solo dev, the gains can potentially redound directly back onto you, whereas if you're salaried and working for someone else, the gains simply turn into the new baseline expectation. 061
Luc Perkins @lucperkins.dev · 04/09/2026In other words, scratch that itch, bulldoze that annoying wall. So much malleability in the air. 120
Luc Perkins @lucperkins.dev · 04/09/2026Hardly a revelatory insight but Nowadays™️ you really can just do things. Have always disliked both Google Slides and the Markdown-based JS-y slide things I’ve encountered so today I just made one in about 20 minutes. And it’s spot on for my needs and I look forward to creating slides now. 120

Luc Perkins @lucperkins.dev · 29/08/2026Prediction: within one calendar year, the scientific (and especially medical) benefits of AI will be so unmistakably clear that the groupthink-y anti-AI discourse will quietly taper off 000
Luc Perkins @lucperkins.dev · 29/08/2026Yes, and that, relatedly, a bajillion things are named after the guy who brought Mengele and Eichmann into the country 000
Luc Perkins @lucperkins.dev · 28/08/2026I’ve long joked that Argentina badly needs an “inflation is bad and gays are okay” party. ¡Ojalá que algo así sea al horizonte algún día! 110
Luc Perkins @lucperkins.dev · 28/08/2026My hope is that what we see out of this is a broad-based reorientation of Argentina’s political economy that transcends parties. But if had the power to vote the guy out of office, I would, because I do not think that the historical revisionism and the other regressive nonsense are worth it. 110
Luc Perkins @lucperkins.dev · 28/08/2026And I’m glad that the current administration sees that as a problem that needs to be solved, and not just rhetorically or as a set of vague promises. That Milei is, to put it mildly to an absurd extent, an imperfect instrument is deeply lamentable. 100
Luc Perkins @lucperkins.dev · 28/08/2026Of course, and I don’t see where I’ve painted it as non-complicated. What isn’t complicated, from my perspective, is that Argentina’s long-running approach of propping up demand by printing money has been, generally speaking, bad for the country. 100
Luc Perkins @lucperkins.dev · 28/08/2026Arguably the most important muscle to develop working in software in the age of LLMs is the "naw, we probably shouldn't" muscle. And it's really hard to do when code is ~free. 000
Luc Perkins @lucperkins.dev · 27/08/2026Never thought burrito tortillas could be too chewy but welp, Chipotle, here we are 000
Luc Perkins @lucperkins.dev · 27/08/2026Peronists have been in power about 2/3 of the time since the restoration of democracy, so I don't think it's so unfair to paint with a wide brush. But yes, I do agree, there are structural problems that are not specific to Peronist admins. 100
Luc Perkins @lucperkins.dev · 27/08/2026I never said that the Peronists are solely to blame for anything, nor did I have anything good to say about the Macrí admin 100
Luc Perkins @lucperkins.dev · 27/08/2026Again, that graphic comes from an article from 2024. I don't see how it's particularly germane here. 100
Luc Perkins @lucperkins.dev · 27/08/2026To be clear, I'm not arguing that any of this is somehow "worth" all the socially regressive elements of his admin. I'm not thinking in black and white the way you're imputing to me. But I am not misinformed and certainly not a "Nazi." Can we make that term continue to actually mean something? 100

Luc Perkins @lucperkins.dev · 27/08/2026I don't know why you say I'm not providing any evidence. GDP per capita in terms of PPP clearly trending upward: www.imf.org/external/dat...imf.org© 2021 International Monetary Fund. All rights reserved. 100
Luc Perkins @lucperkins.dev · 26/08/2026I think Massa would’ve meant 100+% inflation with no end in sight. Is that worse than Milei? I honestly don’t know. I do know that poverty soared under Fernandez, and that has to be taken into account. 100
Luc Perkins @lucperkins.dev · 26/08/2026They are certainly 100x better on social issues but, as always in politics, there are scoundrels all around. They practice a particularly noxious form of deeply entrenched patronage politics that, along one axis, is worse than what Milei is doing imo. That doesn’t make me a “Nazi.” 100
Luc Perkins @lucperkins.dev · 26/08/2026For the record, I’m always happy to let things lie when asked. As for Milei, I never expressed any admiration for the man or his administration. I’ve seen the ill effects up close. What was I was initially responding to was the tendency for people on the left to carry water for the Peronists. 200
Luc Perkins @lucperkins.dev · 26/08/2026The "block first, ask questions later" nature of this website is annoying sometimes. Makes you never want to have a good-faith discussion with strangers. 110
Luc Perkins @lucperkins.dev · 26/08/2026What on Earth are you talking about? You clearly know nothing about me. I never said anything about "across the board." I said the Peronists are worse and that now there's at least a fighting chance to get out of hock with the IMF. The term Nazi actually means something. Let's keep it that way? 000
Luc Perkins @lucperkins.dev · 26/08/2026That's a year and small change into his administration. You can't fix an economy built on money printing in a fortnight. Milei is a clown in a million ways but the Peronists are profoundly worse. Massa would've been a disaster. 100
Luc Perkins @lucperkins.dev · 26/08/2026Well, seems a bit premature to declare that, eh? The figures stop in early 2025: www.imf.org/external/dat...imf.org© 2021 International Monetary Fund. All rights reserved. 200
Luc Perkins @lucperkins.dev · 26/08/2026Those GDP per capita figures ones aren’t the ones I’m seeing. And yes, a downturn was inevitable when the money machine stopped going brrrrr. The difference is that now inflation is at least stable (if not amazing) and getting out from under the IMF’s heel is a real possibility. 100
Reposted by Luc PerkinsKeith @mosheroperandi.bsky.social · 23/08/2026Here is a simple trick for evaluating takes, or honing your own, that I've been meaning to formalize: try replacing "AI" or "datacenter" with "computer" (or "software") and see how it sounds. Does it still hold up, our does it sound wrong or too broad to be coherent? 3194
