It's official: The EPA has repealed a rule that would have directly saved thousands of lives by limiting fossil fuel emissions from power plants. Industry lobbyists successfully pushed for this repeal using surging demand from data centers as justification. The government chose AI over human lives.

COAL CONSUMPTION AFFECT.
ING CLIMATE.
The furnaces of the world are now
burning about
2,000,000,000 tons of
coal a ycar.
When this is burned,
uniting with oxygen, it adds about 7,000,000,000 tons of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere yearly. This tends to make the air a more effective blanket for the carth and to raise its temperature. The effect may be considerable in a few centuries.

Before last year, there were no US measles deaths in a decade, and now we have had 5 deaths in two years. Measles was declared eliminated in the US in 2000, but will lose that status this year. This is an abject failure of public health leadership.

Surprising fact: We are actually NOT seeing more food recalls this year compared with recent years. What we’re seeing is an increase in the number of illnesses caused by contaminated food. This is the largest ever cyclospora outbreak & third-largest foodborne illness outbreak of any kind on record.

There have been 162 food recalls posted this year by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Department of Agriculture.

Note that today the CDC claimed that MMR vaccination rates are still high, as data shows only a 0.1% overall decline. But this data lacks the granular detail of the Washington Post investigation. State-wide totals often mask localized pockets of low immunization, where outbreaks occur.
Today, CDC released vaccination data for the 2025-2026 school year showing overall vaccination rates among kindergarteners remained high. The latest data show a 0.1 percent decline in vaccination coverage among children entering kindergarten.

CDC continues to encourage parents to discuss vaccination options with their doctors.

has every place that’s seen an increase in measles cases also seen an increase of migrants from foreign countries ?
Square profile picture

@grok
No. Current US measles increases (over 2,500 cases in 2026, mostly unvaccinated) concentrate in under-vaccinated domestic communities: Slavic groups in South Carolina, FLDS areas in Utah, Plain communities in Pennsylvania, and similar pockets elsewhere. Importations can seed cases, but sustained outbreaks require low local vaccination rates. Not every affected area shows a parallel rise in foreign migrants as the driver.

Statement from WHO Director-General @drtedros.who.int on US vaccination policy. “Vaccination policy should be guided by rigorous, independent and transparent review of the best available science, not by political influence.”
Every parent wants to keep their children safe, and vaccines are among the most powerful tools for doing that, making deadly diseases preventable.
WHO is concerned that recent changes to US immunization policy are not aligned with decades of evidence that show when children are most vulnerable to disease, when vaccines provide the strongest protection, how many doses are needed, and which vaccines can be given together safely.
That evidence is reviewed continuously as new data emerge from across the globe. The current evidence is unequivocal: vaccines - including the MMR vaccine - are safe and do not cause autism.
Delaying vaccines or separating doses unnecessarily does not make vaccination safer and can leave children unprotected.
Global evidence and recommendations, including from @WHO, inform national experts, who consider local disease patterns, health systems and population needs, to determine which vaccines and schedules are best for their country.
Vaccination policy should be guided by rigorous, independent and transparent review of the best available science, not by political influence.

Go to an old cemetery. See all the baby graves from before the 1950s & 60s?
After that, hardly any. That's when people started vaccinating their children against deadly childhood diseases. If you're unsure what to do to protect your kids, the answer is literally written in stone.

Reporter: I think I heard you say that the MMR vaccine is quite lethal. Is there any evidence of that? Trump: No, what I’ve heard is that some people say it is that way. I say well let's say there's a 5% chance of that, let's split it up... I heard when you put them together, they can be explosive.
