What is better? 1- Waiting for the characters to discover information you already know? 2- Not knowing anything and finding out with the characters?

Finished cooking and survived... now... I think I put a lot of condiment in it... I sasted it... it was good, but my throat felt scratchy afterwards... too much paprika, siracha? That new seasoning thing I bought... Maybe I'm allergic to something in there... who knows...

Man, the more my writing evolves... the more I hate the characters I used to love because I gave them flaws... and I love that... I was writing a nice protecting brother that turned out to be a control freak that is 2 close calls away from chaining his little brother in the basement for his safety.

Following where I want my story to go... what I discussed about the fake death is basically the introduction to the first part of the final arc... Leaving hints about how the death of the character is something planned. or at least a risky gamble because they don't know if it's gonna work.

So the thing I have to do is, plant the seeds of something going on behind the character's death. MC feels it deeply... but the behavior of other characters do not match what one would expect. The character comes back, but MC doesn't feel happy or relieved. He feels tricked +

The more I develop my OCs's story... the more it derails... -My main character isn't the main character. -My main villain feels more like an afterthought... I wanted a small villain that becomes less of a villain the more the real threat reveals itself... but I made him way too threatening...
