Yesterday, Ch’ahom and Morsch stopped in Feldkirch, AT, to dust off the bookshelves of the Antiquariat Chybulski. I’ve posted all the photos and a few words there: www.lucinogen.com/events/chahom-morsch-20250307-feldkirch-at #chahom #morsch #metalsky #concert #livephotography #nikon #photography

The singer of the German black metal band Morsch mid-performance, raising his fist with intensity. His long, wild dreadlocks partially obscure his face as he grips the microphone, channeling raw emotion. The venue exudes a warm, intimate atmosphere, with wooden bookshelves filled with aged books lining the background. The dim, golden lighting casts dramatic shadows, enhancing the contrasting energy between the performer’s intensity and the venue’s cozy, old-world charm.

The image captures the guitarists of the pre-Hispanic war metal band Ch’ahom in the midst of an intense live performance. The foreground musician, with long flowing hair and intricate tattoos, wields a black, angular electric guitar adorned with tribal and skull motifs, reflecting the band’s aesthetic. His face is marked with warpaint, amplifying the ritualistic energy of the scene.

In the background, another guitarist, partially obscured by shadows and warm lighting, contributes to the sonic assault, his expression fierce and engaged. The venue’s cozy, wooden interior lined with old bookshelves contrasts sharply with the band’s aggressive presence, creating a visually striking juxtaposition between the raw power of the performance and the intimate, almost mystical setting.

The image showcases the full lineup of Ch’ahom, the pre-Hispanic war metal band, mid-performance, exuding raw energy and defiance. With fists raised high, the musicians channel an intense, warrior-like presence, reinforcing the band’s ritualistic and war aesthetic.

I really enjoyed the simplest things this week! Special mention to Akira Kurosawa’s vivid Dreams and Jim Jarmusch’s ode to daily life, Paterson! #letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched

As #ImperialTriumphant announced their forthcoming tour with #Igorrr & #MasterBootRecord yesterday, I thought about sharing a few shots of the band at #Roadburn 2023, playing their record ‘Spirit of Ecstasy’ in full. #blackmetalsky #concert #livephotography #concertphotography #nikon #photography

The black and white photograph shows drummer Kenny Grohowski performing on stage at Roadburn 2023, captured in a dramatic high-contrast style. He is seated at a drum kit and wearing the distinctive masked attire associated with the avant-garde metal band Imperial Triumphant, which features elaborate, art deco-inspired costumes. The mask obscures his face completely, creating a striking silhouette against what appears to be stage lighting.

A black and white photograph shows Imperial Triumphant guitarist Zachary Ezrin performing at Roadburn 2023, captured in dramatic high-contrast. He is wearing the band's signature art deco-inspired mask, which in this case features a crown of metal spikes radiating outward. The mask has distinct facial features and designs etched into it, dramatically lit to emphasize its contours. The image is tightly cropped on the mask and upper body, with the rest fading to black, creating a striking and ominous portrait that aligns with the band's avant-garde black metal aesthetic.

A black and white photograph shows Imperial Triumphant bassist Steve Blanco performing at Roadburn 2023, captured in dramatic contrast. The image shows him in the band's signature formal attire while playing both trombone (shown in a striking diagonal line across the frame) and electric bass guitar (visible in the lower portion of the frame). His art deco-inspired mask is partially visible, with its distinctive horned design. The composition creates an interesting geometric interplay between the two instruments, with the electric bass guitar positioned below the trombone, all set against a dark background that emphasizes the dramatic stage lighting.

A black and white photograph captures a dramatic moment at the finale of an Imperial Triumphant performance where bassist Steve Blanco, in the foreground wearing their signature hooded formal attire and art deco-inspired mask, is spraying champagne at the end of their performance at Roadburn 2023.

The image dramatically captures the champagne spray creating an explosive pattern of droplets against the dark background, illuminated by stage lighting.

First gig and shots of the year for me yesterday. Attended #DefeatedSanity in Basel, sick atmosphere in a sold out venue. They’re currently touring Europe with a package that you don’t wanna miss if you’re into brutal death metal! #deathmetalsky #concert #gig #livephotography #concertphotography
