Great bodhisattvas such as Avalokiteshvara appear in this world for the benefit of all. Unlike ordinary beings, it is not the power of their past actions that drives them to be reborn. They simply appear to those whose faith is genuine and who are ready to be guided along the path to liberation. DL

Thich Nhat Hanh wrote, “We are here to awaken from our illusion of separateness.” His Holiness the Dalai Lama takes this one step further. He teaches we are here to awaken from all illusion-like independent reality, including the illusion-like ego, avoiding mental exhaustion and chronic stress syndrome. This means the ego to which we so tightly cling, is false. Waking up from this false ego reduces self-grasping and self-cherishing, both are what keep us bound to samsara; bound to suffering. Letting go of clinging to a false ego cultivates humility. Humility open the floodgates for love. Not narrow attachment love, but to unconditional love. Loving everyone always because we are all the same in wanting happiness and not pain. This is true even for the animals. Loving everyone always also because everyone has been our cherished mothers, fathers, daughters, son, and dear friends over and over again. This is where wisdom and compassion meet, and indeed become one meaning, while being expressed differently. The vast and profound path expresses just this. That unconditional love and the wisdom of emptiness have the same meaning. We just talk about them differently. Emaho!

His Holiness the Dalai Lama, teaches, “be calm, pacify your agitated mind, let go of stress.” These are powerful words from the master of wisdom and compassion. He practices wisdom and compassion continuously. In fact, he is not separate from wisdom and compassion, as there is no hypocrisy. He lives constantly bathed in wisdom and compassion. He is the real deal. But how do we put these amazing teachings into practice? Being calm is a good start. Regularly take several slow deep cleansing breaths. This not only cleans the polluted air, but negative emotions and thoughts as well. Reduce sugar, caffeine, and nicotine. Exercise regularly. Get good sleep. This is good mental health self-care. Turn the mind away from focusing always on, “me, me, and me.” Shift the focus to concern for the wellbeing of others. This is a phenomenal way to reduce stress. Send calm peaceful energy to the 8+ billion people, most of whom are stressed out. Imagine them being calm. Imagine their agitation chill. Imagine them free of stress. How wonderful! Emaho.

May all beings experience happiness and the causes of happiness!

May they be forever free from suffering and the causes of suffering!

May they never be deprived of supreme happiness, which is free from suffering!

May we abide in immeasurable equanimity, free from attachment to loved ones and hatred for others!

Saṃsāra, or the cycle of existence, is the continuous cycle of rebirths. Throughout these rebirths, we experience birth, sickness, old age, and death—sources of suffering in which we, as unenlightened beings, find ourselves trapped. #samsara #cycleofexistence #birth #sickness #death #oldage
