And I hate this weak body of mine even more…

Luca 🐺🌕 | Fel ⛰️👻 @lucawerewolf.bsky.social · 14h

They’ve worsened over time from a mild thing to now I have to choose whether to not fucking die in the middle of the night from an asthma attack or getting rid of the joy in my life that pulled me out of a very dark time in my life… I hate the state of health care in this country.

…and filters to eliminate most of the allergens in the air…buy buy buy more stuff to stay healthy, forbid Toby from being in my bedroom when I sleep… things keep getting worse and my body is slowly deteriorating because of my fucking allergies..

I’ve went to the doctor several times this year alone to get treated for my asthma. I have to be put on a regular inhaler which will cost me $400 a month out of pocket because I lack health insurance…be put on steroids for my lungs…I have to buy more air purifiers….

Fast forward to this year and my reactions to Toby have gotten worse, skin turning red and itching just by petting my sweet boy… sneezing and nose stuffing up after being in a room with him… coughing and wheezing…

I have gotten treatments for over a few years to control my allergies with weekly shots but I had to stop after moving states along with not being able to afford healthcare. But even then, it didn’t seem the shots were doing much to curtail my symptoms significantly.

But now, gradually over time, I’ve been suffering from chronic allergies along with asthma that leads to breathing difficulties to the point where I have to visit urgent care often to get it under control. I have a rescue inhaler which has been helping but in severe cases, it is not enough…

For context: Toby is my wonderful dog who we’ve rescued from the shelter a few years ago. I also discovered after that I was slightly allergic to dogs. Which shocked me because I was around dogs most of my life and never suffered any extreme adverse effects.

Nothing makes me more miserable than having to choose between keeping my precious boy or choosing to stay healthy and alive…
