🆕 New in Xcode 27. Apple suggests using iOS 17 (2023) as the minimum deployment target, which supports devices from 2018. They expose this suggestion as RECOMMENDED_IPHONEOS_DEPLOYMENT_TARGET variable. If you use this it, Xcode will automatically change the minimum deployment target.

In addition to distributing #Kompressor my image converter app, via the App Store I now distribute it directly via Amore as well. It's currently 50% off as part of #IndieAppSales. You can use the promo code INDIEAPPSALES2026. kompressor.app

In celebration of #IndieAppSales I added the ability to enter promo codes to Amore's checkout experience. If you use AmoreLicensing in your app, you can use this to offer discounts and promos for your apps.

Added this about view to Alam to explain where its name is coming from. It‘s a slow project because I currently don‘t have a lot of time but it‘s slowly coming together.

There are good reasons to publish Mac apps outside of the App Store. iA lists some reasons in their recent blog post. - In-app purchases don’t work for institutional purchases - Educational discounts - Some companies disable access to the App Store - Custom payment system integration (e.g Amore)
More Choice

For over 16 years, customers have asked for a way to buy iA apps outside the App Store. Some didn’t like App Store, some didn’t have access to it due to company policies. With direct sales it’s finally possible to use our apps both at home and at work.
Selling outside the App Store gives us and our users more flexibility. With iA Account you can now:
Buy iA Writer for Mac from via App Store or from us directly.
Access and extend add-on services like Web Sharing for iA Presenter.
Get educational discounts.

With Amore №5
June 1, 2026
Hi friends,

This is the fifth issue of »With Amore«, which I use to keep you in the loop about significant project milestones and updates.

In May the focus was on improving the licensing & payments system for the first couple of developers that implemented it into their apps.

Amore Licensing
One of the most significant changes this month is that Amore's licensing system does not require an Amore+ subscription anymore, making it absolutely free to get started.

> The codebase is otherwise largely the same. + 1m LOC - 4k LOC You added a MILLION lines of code and removed 4k. The project's majority is still written in Rust. Are you alright¿
Rewrite Bun in Rust

Blog post with details coming soon.

It passes Bun's pre-existing test suite on all platforms (and fixes several memory leaks and flaky tests), the binary size shrinks by 3 MB - 8 MB, the benchmarks are between neutral and faster - and most importantly, we now have compiler-assisted tools for catching & preventing memory bugs, which have costed the team an enormous amount of development & debugging time over the years.

The codebase is otherwise largely the same. The same architecture, the same data structures. Bun still uses few 3rd party libraries. No async rust.

To try this, run:

bun upgrade --canary
Please do file issues if you run into any. If this thread gets crazy I will lock it.

Note:

Still some optimization work to do before this lands in non-canary version.
Still some cleanup work to do (which will come in a series of follow-up PRs)Languages

Reworked Amore's automatic DMG creation. It's now using LZMA compression and the APFS file system, which results in way smaller installer disk images. For example, the download size of the Amore app shrank by ~27%. Additionally, I tweaked the design of DMGs to give them a more modern feeling.

The #Amore CLI reached feature parity with the Mac app, which means you and your agent can now access the full power of Amore right from the command line. You build and Amore takes care of publishing your Mac app.
