When writing CSS I tend to sprinkle in utilities for overwrites and one-off styles. Since these utilities mostly come from my design system anyway, I built a UnoCSS preset that turns your design tokens, defined as custom properties, straight into utility classes. www.npmjs.com/package/@luc...
CSS snippet showing design tokens in a :root tag.

:root {
  --color-text-primary: #111;
  --color-text-secondary: #555;
  --spacing-sm: 0.5rem;
  --spacing-md: 1rem;
}

@custom-media --md (min-width: 768px);HTML Snippet showing the generated utility classes in use. A div with classes `p-sm md:p-md text-secondary`

Really enjoyed reading this well put post, even if it brought back a lot of memories of sitting through design-vs-engineering sprint planning meetings Matthias describes.

A cartoon metronome. On one side it says "Should designers code?" and on the other, "is CSS a programming language"
