Today, a #HeritageFund colleague and I had the opportunity to meet with the senior team @victoriagallery.bsky.social to hear about ambitions & future plans for their communities & collections. We were also treated to a tour of their impressive spaces, more to reopen later this year.
An image of a corridor within a Victorian Waterhouse designed building. The walls are fully tiled, brown tiles to the mid point and then cream upwards. There are tiled archways in the same brown and cream tile. Images can be seen hung in the corridor. At the end of the corridor a glimpse of red can be seen on the galleries beyond. This is a water colour image of the Temple at Philae in Egypt. It is by Edward Lear. It is mounted on a white mount with a pale gold frame. The temple takes centre stage in the image with water to the front and desert elsewhere. There is some sparse greenery, in the form of a few palm trees and bushes. This is a Halima Cassel work. It is a dish with geometric designs carved into the clay and is mounted on a white display plinth with a glass surround. This shows the Tate Hall. It’s a wooden vaulted ceiling with cream insets between the ceiling beams. The walls are dark blue and alcoves can be seen on either side

My last four museum visits 📸📷🤳 (Yes I am showing off) 1. Academy Museum of Motion Pictures 2. Griffith Observatory (amazing Tesla Coil!) 3. La Brea Tar Pits 4. The Story, County Durham What are yours?
A large, two pain glass door. Above are the words, in gold, Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. At either side of the door, are windows displaying images relating to the collection. The floor is gently sloped towards the entrance door, changing from gray slabs to dark gray. The door handles are large and gold, about a third of the height of the door. An image taken at dusk. To the left can be seen a white building with a dark coloured roof. Wording on the building reads Griffith Observatory. To the right, is the sunset over LA. Twinkling lights can be seen. A building is seen down a sloping brick ramp. The ramp leads to a series of glass doors. Above the doors is a sign reading La Brea Tar Pits. There are steps on either side of the building making it look symmetrical. Across the very top of the building is a decorative relief plinth, showing scenes from the earths past in animal and plant life scenes. An image taken inside a building showing a wall with a range of cupboard and shelving. In the foreground is a large touch screen with the words Changing Landscapes on.
