Never in doubt.

It uses data to judge the quantity and quality of chances and dominance - I suspect Arsenal created a much higher xG against Napoli than Ipswich, but had better finishing tonight. Plus the gamestate probably played a factor here - Arsenal probably don't concede 2 goals if they weren't winning by 4

In the first 15 minutes I think she made 2 or 3 very good saves. Some slightly better finishing and some slightly worse keeping and it honestly could have been 3-0 after about 12 minutes.

I do somewhat fear that the women's teams will be sacrificed but that everything will be hunky dory by the time the next men's World Cup comes around again. Hopefully it's sorted quickly, though, but part of me would like FIFA to be completely renewed - not just this particular issue stopped

I genuinely think that if Miles had started in midfield for Arsenal maybe two? weeks earlier, he ends up in that England squad (and playing important minutes). But I kind of understand it considering he had barely played and barely been selected under Tuchel.

I was curious if there was any new information on there regarding the train crash and this was literally the first post that came up...
A post on X saying "So king charles can come out and say about the Bedford train crash being a tragedy and hes thoughts are with the families.

But very quiet when it comes to 250000 white girls raped by Pakistani Muslims gangs says it all really"

Yep - it's been Player of the Match for years and years. Colloquially it's called Man of the Match for mens matches because of the alliteration and fewer syllables, and no one has been arrested for it (thus far)

In fairness, the encroachment and the keeper moving off his line both happened *because* of the stutter

Football having very similar hand signals for goal kicks and for penalties has always seemed like a recipe for disaster to me. It's usually obvious from context, but they could do a million other things with their hand instead. I mean, do a roly-poly or something. Have a special penalty air horn.

There's a tiny part of me that respects the referee, because they usually never ignore the VAR, and a lot of attackers do initiate the contact in "fouls" and it is rarely picked up on. ...It's just a shame that he decided to see it in a tackle that was as much a foul in 1926 as in 2026. Bizarre.

I think it's probably just one of those situations where the frame used for the TV still is later than the moment the automated system uses.

My experience of an MRI is that they just tell you the results, as it is all computerised and needs to be interpreted. It's not like an X-Ray. Obviously, things might work differently for professional footballers, but seeing as this happened, my guess is that's what happened here.

If it's an MRI then your whole body will be in it anyway, so you wouldn't be able to tell

My best guess is just that the announcer wasn't initially certain who scored. The first goal is particularly difficult but even with the others, for music you need to know who scored *immediately* - the actual announcement isn't made until a bit later (by which time there has usually been a replay)

The bases on Cyprus belong to the UK, not the US. And as far as I'm aware, the Americans haven't US the Cyprus bases during this conflict. Also, they are British sovereign territory - not leased (as most foreign air/naval bases are).

A flat white is a specific drink (a bit like a "latte"). If they don't offer filter coffee, then you probably want a "white Americano" or an "Americano with milk" - no one will be confused by that.

...but that means City didn't get any "advantage" from the original foul, so you take it back and give the free kick and red card. It's the only thing the rules allow, unfortunately. (I'm in favour of "penalty goals" and giving penalties for certain offenses outside the area, but not many are)

lrtsaunders.bsky.social @lrtsaunders.bsky.social · 08/02/2026
They played advantage and *then* Haaland committed a foul. When there's a foul you have to either give a free kick/penalty or play advantage. Obviously there was no advantage to Liverpool as it resulted in a goal, so you have to give a free kick...

I don't think so, as you effectively discount anything that happens after the first foul (if you call it), unless it is a dangerous/violent action. Much like if you commit a DOGSO offence - but it turns out the attacker is offside - then you're not sent off and your team gets an indirect free kick.

It has to be one or the other - if they score then you haven't *denied* a goalscoring opportunity. They ultimately came to the only decision the rules allow, but a goal would have felt fairer.

I was thinking about this during that exact moment in the game. Winning a flick on to no-one is useless - but if the defender heads it out for a throw, or into the midfield where you win the second ball then that's a net win. This basically applies to any straight long ball.

I'm pretty sure this can't be correct. I remember Arsenal winning there during "project restart"

These are *American* viewing figures for the women's Euros. I think ITV got about 4.5m for the last game

60% brighter floodlights should really improve the quality of the TV pictures too. Which is a better viewing experience, of course, but should also give it a bit less of a "cheap" feel that the fuzzy-looking night games at non-league ground tend to have.

Having watched the game it's not exactly surprising, but that "Zones of Control" graphic is wild
