🧪🧬 You can now play Minecraft with DNA nanotechnology! In our latest preprint we introduce DNA polycubes platform: A modeling driven system, where we use SAT-solvers+multiscale simulations to design 3D finite-size structures that assemble in high yield chemrxiv.org/doi/full/10....

The idea is to decouple the journals from the review step. They’ll still exist, but they’ll need to add other value. They’ll highlight, curate, add new perspectives. If they do a good job they can still be prestigious (like Scientific American or Wired) (1.2) 👇

I guess it depends on the computational technique one is using, but for molecular simulations i don't think we are solving anything. We are evolving the system according to some law, and then take averages over the explored phase space, which is qualitatively what also happens in experiments.

The former, in my opinion. They used to be called "computer experiments" for a reason!

Jokes on you, I only submit a paper when I start hating it, not when I think it's good😁 P.S. I signed up and am definitely looking forward to trying it!

🧪🧬 Our new paper is just out in PNAS: www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/... It is about nucleic acid strand displacement, which is a key reaction in molecular computation, and part of the success of the oxDNA model comes from the fact it can efficiently simulate this process. 1/4🧵

🧪In our new paper (journals.aps.org/prl/abstract...) in collaboration with Russo, Romano, Rovigatti and Sciortino groups in Rome / Venice, we look at Classical Nucleation Theory: a popular model of nucleation process, n is a key phenomena in self-assembly, self-organization and phase transitions.

Falsifiability Test for Classical Nucleation Theory
Classical nucleation theory (CNT) is built upon the capillarity approximation, i.e., the assumption that the nucleation properties can be inferred from the bulk properties of the melt and the crystal....
