Oof, yes, that’s so frustrating

Maia coming back full circle — “accessibility isn’t the t shirt we forgot to put in, it’s the detergent — it’s essential to making sure we get the outcomes we need.”

Super interesting story from Tesco back in 2001 when they decided to roll out a second, accessible version of their website. They abandoned the “main” website in 2003 because it was dramatically preferred by users — and brought in 13 M pounds of revenue

There’s an annual scan of 1 million websites and the latest one from 2025 found that 96% of homepages were inaccessible. Plus, the number of bugs on those pages went up 10% — and the hypothesis was that it’s related to AI.

@maiamiller.bsky.social now on stage pointing out that people now recognize that accessibility matters, but they don’t know how to fit it in — so it’s like a t shirt that you forgot to put in the laundry. #nztechrally

Dipin Thomas doing a fantastic job explaining Deep Agent and AI harnesses — an AI harness is something that provides tools and guardrails for AI, and Dipin has done a great job breaking down each component of a harness, from memory to sub-agents to skills and more. #NZTechRally

From the Q&A: “how will juniors learn to read code if they’re not writing code?” Lora — “actually, you get better at reading code by reading code” (and there’s evidence that we’ve been teaching code wrong all along anyway).

lpeate.bsky.social @lpeate.bsky.social · 15/05/2026
And then get this for how to help junior engineers grow in this new world: * pair with them while they’re using AI * help them practice communicating why they made choices and what the impact was * curated knowledge exchange — have juniors identify key skills to learn and ask someone to teach them

Plus this point from Lora — that the skills that matter most today are the ones that used to come last in a traditional career.

Kia ora! I’m posting today from #nztechrally — currently enjoying Lora Vordarova’s talk about how the way people learn engineering needs to change with AI. She shared a model tor how to break it down — into foundational skills, AI skills, and “higher-level” skills. (See photo).

And super interesting hear the changes in Mable’s ways of working — shorter rituals, more touch points, recycling the time you get back from writing code to spend more time thinking. From Olga — “more thinky thinky, less type-y type-y.”

Super interesting case study from Adam / Mable — rolling out AI tools did mean they shopped more lines of code, but at a cost of more complexity. And on their value delivered metric — epics — AI gave a marginal bump compared to changes they made with automated testing and continuous delivery.

Great point from Adam about how we’re missed the point with these AI productivity measures — actually, it’s about whether we’re sustainably shipping value faster. We need to look beyond coding to all the things around it that get an idea into production

Really nodding my head at this part of Matt de Bono’s talk — agents are not people. Don’t use she/he for them, don’t anthropomorphize them. They’re not making decisions, and we shouldn’t trust them like they do #Programmable2026

Human reviewers are more important than ever with LLMs writing and reviewing code. But alongside that, the role of humans is shifting – and that’s why it’s so important to understand the patterns in code reviews. Are they different when we’re using more LLMs? See our latest feature for more!

lpeate.bsky.social @lpeate.bsky.social · 15/07/2025
This is a testament to transparency – making sure everyone can access our features means we get more feedback and can make more product improvements. It's also testament to our team for listening and actioning the improvement ideas – I love our #10xTeam!
