This is how I imagine Margaret Thatcher looked at Madam Tussauds before and after they swapped in an older version.

100% it is. Even the most laddish of comments wouldn’t ordinarily draw a link to a person’s own children. Very very worrying.

I would be careful about making predictions for the next GE. There’s a long way to go. We are presently watching Reform implode in slow motion. I wouldn’t be surprised if Burnham keeps a strong majority when all is said and done.

I don’t think we are likely to get the government we want. Though to my mind, we know things could be a whole lot worse. That said, now Burnham has made the Party shift on Brexit/EU, maybe he can move them away from leaning into anti-immigration and pro-Israel-at-all-costs policies.

The vote though, has set back the Party enormously. Whatever way you cut it. 3 months ago, Labour/Burnham/Lib Dems would’ve seen the Greens as potential partners. Plenty of voters would’ve been looking at supporting them. The vote was an unnecessary shot in the foot.

Misogyny, sure. But also, proper paedo incest stuff going on here. What a response too. If your friend/colleague came out with this, you’d not be laughing. You’d be saying “what the fuck”

Reform have got £72m in the coffers. Pretty sure they can afford a very rigorous vetting process of their own candidates AND a deep search of other Parties’ candidates and incumbents.

Best decision I’ve made in a long time was to leave Twitter. No longer subjected to the constant rageahol. There were a few accounts I missed at first, because it brought good information quickly about things that interest me. But nothing that made it worth hanging around for.

How come Zia Yusuf didn’t run in any of the recent by-elections!?

lowprofile2021.bsky.social @lowprofile2021.bsky.social · 10h
The problem with lying about having a great system of vetting candidates, is that it will inevitably come back to bite you. That said, Farage himself would struggle to get through most Party vetting systems.

It’s a rather archaic and pointless oath. I’m less interested in their allegiance to the Crown than I am in wanting them to act honestly, in good faith and in furtherance of the well being of the country. The oath should contain clear requirements along these lines.

That seat projection is iffy or am I misreading it? Reform can’t be minus anything if they only have 8 sitting MPs?!

I’m sure the BBC has settled plenty of claims against it. This one though, would be the end of the BBC if they did. Not just monetarily, but faith in it would plummet across the UK and the World.

Whereas privately owned companies have shareholders that can get very squeamish. Or in some cases are Trump sycophants.

Also, they’re a public organisation. There are no shareholders getting squeamish about things.

Had he been to your school, he’d have been a sycophantic little twat. Saying anything and everything to ingratiate himself with your group. He has not a single principle. He says whatever shit he thinks will hit his target audience. You need only look at his political “journey”.

Wasn’t it the reason many people wouldn’t vote for Harris? Wonder how those guys are feeling about it now. At least there was a chance she’d have forced Israel to curb its behaviours. Not stand on cheering.

We should be disgusted and comforted in equal measure. Having flirted with a wider popularity with voters, Reform have been driven back to pandering to racists and idiots. They’re having to shore up their base, such has been the impact of scandals upon them.

Burnham has assessed the mood of the country and judged the time to be right to call out the shysters who foisted Brexit upon us. Luckily for him, it just so happens that so many of them are at the top of Reform and the Tories. He can really go at them!

lowprofile2021.bsky.social @lowprofile2021.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
But, what does it matter? Brexit is done. It’s served its purpose for Farage. No matter how shit, he’ll always say it wasn’t done properly.

lowprofile2021.bsky.social @lowprofile2021.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
The vote was so close that it is impossible to know if it was the Russian interference that got the whole thing over the line. Though you could say the same about Johnson’s support, the Gove experts comment and many other influences.

Brexit is the right topic for Burnham though. It has gone full circle for Farage. It was once his biggest strength, now it’s a huge weakness. Burnham is right to punch that bruise again and again and again.

Interestingly, for many years nobody wanted to reignite the Brexit battle because it feeds Farage. The public recognition of Brexit being shite is so great now, that Brexit is no longer a strength for Farage it’s a massive weakness.

None of it is the fans fault. However, too many of them are now desperately trying to defend flagrant cheating. At least Chelsea’s new owners lifted the veil, allowing the club to move beyond it all. Man City will mire the game for many many years.

lowprofile2021.bsky.social @lowprofile2021.bsky.social · 11/10/2026
Plus, at some stage the candidates need to be named and engage with the world. The vetting will be woeful. Their public utterances will be researched. And soon, people will know the sort of choice they have on their hands.

The Reform numbers are gobbldegook. In fact, all of the numbers are. If Reform field a candidate at every constituency, how many will have been unveiled as complete lunatics before the voting even starts!?
