Someone made a kernel driver built from NVIDIA's own open-source GPU kernel modules for the RTX 5060, ported it to macOS, and now it’s open-sourced for everyone to download! It’s buggy but they say full acceleration under Sequoia. 🤯 github.com/nullmoth

Momiji-rolling 156.0-mj (based on Firefox 156, a 2-week old browser) is out now, for OS X Lion - Catalina! This newer version feels very responsive on this Mac Pro 2,1 running OS X El Capitan. An older firefox build of v140.16.0esr-mj (stable) also got an update. github.com/aobaharuki20...

A 2007 MacBook will boot Yosemite off USB with a just a modified boot.efi, a display adapter, and 60w MagSafe 1. This thing can almost fit inside a pocket!

And the 500 GB iMac G3 drive upgrade was a success! With the SpeedTools ATA Hi-Cap Driver, it now boots Tiger natively off this drive. Had tiger on an iBook, plugged a 500 GB drive into the iMac, and put it into TDM. Installed the driver on the iBook, cloned the drive, rebooted the iMac, and bam!

Now with the Hi-Cap ATA drivers installed, the 500 GB Maxtor IDE/133 HDD is in! Once it’s cloned, this iMac G3 will run Tiger on plenty of drive space. ⚡️

THIS.. is a Power Mac G4 with an Orange PC 660 Windows compatibility card (and what looks like an aftermarket heatsink). It's an entire PC complete with RAM, a CPU, etc; to enable users to run Windows and DOS on their Mac! Can't remember where exactly this was setup 😅

Finally met Steve from @mac84.bsky.social! This was his Power Mac 7100/80, with an Apple developer HDD plugged in.. It has all sorts of things including System 7.0 beta disk images, which install normally on a Mac. Also has System 7 internal release notes too! 😮

This was the absolute best weekend I’ve had in a really long time, and I can’t wait to do more. VCF Midwest was an absolute blast (and even a bit overwhelming!), met some acquaintances and familiar faces. Also met up with some great friends, grabbed some computer gear, & visited 3 new states!

This Mac Pro 2,1 starts to feel surprisingly modern on 4K60. Finally got the DisplayPort 1.2 to HDMI 2.0 cable! Mac OS X 10.11.3 and up supports 4K60.

I'm shaking with excitement, everyone! This RocketRAID 2720SGL works with El Capitan on a Mac Pro 1,1 after modifying the kext + injecting the driver + splicing wires, spent a good chunk of the night on this. Pros/cons subject to change. SATA III+ speeds ✅ Unable to boot into the SSD thus far. ❌

It's nice when you dig through your pile of parts and find something works when it seemingly previously didn't. I got this years ago among a pile of computer parts, stuffed it away and never used it. SATA Port 1 in the enclosure doesn't work anymore, but port 2 does!

Just picked up a Highpoint RocketRAID 2720GDL for $28 shipped! What's this? Converts internal drive bays on cMP from SATA II, to SAS + SATA 6 Gb/s! Even on a 1,1, PCIe v1.1 x8 = up to 2GB/s, so this will be a massive speed bump for boot drives.

Update 7: Installing Windows 10 to a physical 3 TB HDD while booted in El Capitan via VirtualBox. Once I get Windows + boot camp drivers going, then the Oculus Rift! P.S. not using windows via Virtualbox, only as a vehicle for OS installation. Instructions will be included in an article later on.

The GTX 980 is in, and it works! The last 2x 8GB sticks came in as well so I'll be doing the heatsinks on those as well, to complete the 64 GB of RAM. Still waiting for: The Xeon upgrades, PCIe boot SSD, and a couple other things.

Here’s a side-by-side comparison of the old and new Bluetooth + Wi-Fi cards. With this drop-in upgrade the Mac Pro 1,1 —> 2,1 will gain 802.11ac Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 4.0, AirDrop, HandOff, lower latency, and better compatibility with Apple Magic Gen 2 peripherals.

Just got this in! For $35, a 2010 13” MacBook Pro in it’s original config with a charger, and a speck case! It has a single dent but is otherwise in remarkably good shape.
