On Sunday 27th September Bridget Phillipson, Minister for Women and Equalities, said she wouldn't allow a trans woman into a women’s refuge. She said “you can provide alternative provision” – what's this alternative provision and who's funding it if women’s services must exclude trans women?

🏳️‍⚧️ The EHRC’s code of practice comes into effect today. This impacts everybody in the community. #ukgovernment #trans #transgender #policy #EHRC
Loving me. England’s only Trans+ specific refuge. The Equality and Human Rights Commission’s (EHRC) code of practice comes into effect today. Here’s what we have to say...EHRC code of practice. Today sees the introduction of the EHRC's statutory code of practise.

This impacts everybody in the community and presents significant restrictions on our ability to go about our daily lives in a dignified fashion.

But it's important to remember the harshest impact is going to be felt by the most vulnerable members of our community, such as survivors of domestic abuse...Continued... Trans+ survivors already faced significant barriers accessing appropriate & respectful services when they most need it. The new code will make this situation significantly worse.

Trans+ survivors need to be able to access support, including safe accommodation, when they need it. We need policymakers to be urgently looking at ensuring this support is put in place.Get in touch today. 07902 478 958

Excluding trans children is pointless cruelty - and Girlguiding has set a dangerous example | LBC
When a charity as large and well-resourced as Girlguiding folds so quickly, it sends a signal to others that excluding trans people is the path of least resistance, writes Melissa Dee

As trans people our tolerance for mistreatment can be higher due to our oppression and the external messages we receive. We have compiled some behaviours that may indicate familial abuse. If you’re living with family and it feels unsafe, call 07902 478958 or make a referral on our website.
Familial Abuse
It shouldn’t have to be ‘just the way it is’ for trans peopleThere may be an expectation to fit gender roles and presentations not aligned with your identity

Your family might force you into a marriage or relationship against your wishes

Family may knowingly and consistently misgender and deadname you Your family may dictate who you speak to about your transition and make choices about how you present in front of others

Your family might police you in the home and outside, controlling where you go and who you see

Your family may use slurs and derogatory language to refer to you and your gender

Our community is small and have limited support networks. If you know a trans+ person who is a victim of abuse your presence is valuable. Make sure to listen to their experience but don’t suggest what they do or say. It could endanger them. Make sure to signpost them to a DA service
Don’t advise what they say and do - It could endanger them
Do signpost them to appropriate domestic abuse services (such as ours)
Do keep their information and experience confidential
Do listen without judgement respecting their wishes and needs
