Great performance, pity about the film. And I say that as a John Carpenter fan.

Well worth spending £500* on for the publicity. * The 'deposit', refunded if you get 5% of the votes. For once, Count Binface is almost guaranteed to get it back this time.

Admittedly it was also a drug dealing area after dark - I think it was where Chris Morris was filmed trying to buy Cake. Alas, even the dealers hadn't heard of it.

In the 1988 Kensington by-election, the rump SDP claimed that All Saints Road was a dangerous 'no go' area the police were afraid to visit. They then sent out a lone female leafletter to deliver their leaflets saying that to... All Saints Road. Very good bike repair shop there.

Come to our picnic. We've got a bubble machine.
Graphic advertising an event. Over a semi-transparent photo from a previous event is a graphic of a tree strewn with bi flag coloured bunting. The text at the bottom reads "Sixth annual bi+ community pride picnic". In the top left corner reads "Saturday 18ty July, 2026. 2pm onwards. Hyde Park"The back of the flyer which reads

Bring something to sit on, food, drinks, outdoor games, your guitar, your mates and your water bottle (it'll be hot!)

Wear anything you want, as long as you remember your sunscreen

Get there vy entering the park at the Albert Gate, crossing Rotten Row and Serpentine Road with the Serpentine Bar and Kitchen on your left, and looking for the bi and pan flags.

On a quick visit to sign the contract today, what is in the entrance hall used by the pupils? Why, it's the bi and trans pride flags (and, not in the photo, including the pan, asexual, lesbian and a bunch of others...)

Argh, R4 Today, don't have a 'he gave us Blazing Saddles etc' headline without saying it's Mel Brooks' 100th birthday today first. It sounds too much like the start of an obit otherwise.

The exception is when you are asked a quiz question about which country whose name begins with C is first alphabetically and doesn't accept 'Cabo Verde', its official name at the UN. In the list that says "Germany" rather than "Deutschland" etc.

It's eight weeks to BiCon 2026! A 'by the community, for the community' gathering of people under the bi+ umbrella (attracted to more than one gender, whatever they call their sexual identity) and their friends. 21st-23rd August in Nottingham & online. Sliding scale, trans inclusive for decades.
Two of the circular BiCon logos make a figure eight, with the message that it's 8 weeks to BiCon 2026

"Lucky" was more like it - if Brazil really needed to, they could have scored a bunch more goals than the four* they did. * As I say, lucky because there was nothing wrong with the one that was disallowed.

Commentators giving the chances of going through with a 3-0 and a 4-0 defeat. "So you're saying there's a chance?!?"

Ian @lovingboth.bsky.social · 25/06/2026
On the plus side, they can't finish worse than third out of four, thanks to the scrappy 1-0 win against Haiti.

Ian @lovingboth.bsky.social · 24/06/2026
"It might be a heavier defeat and they still get through..." they say just before it's almost 3-0.

Scotland men's international football is summed up by BBC commentary saying 'if the score stays as it is - losing 1-0 to Brazil - then there's still a chance' (they'll get out of the group stage of a major competition for the first time ever...)

No, Guardian, it is not possible call Quantum of Solace "underrated". If they'd just filmed the opera that's used as a location for villains to talk, it would have been a much better film.

Obviously there are some terrible, terrible remakes, but you'd lose True Lies (La Totale!), The Thing (The Thing From Another World), A Fistful of Dollars (Yojimbo), & many other favourites. Plus all but the original silent version of any Jane Austen / Shakespeare / similar classic or fairy tale.

In any car park, small cars have to park so they're visible when looking along a row, and not pull back so it looks like there is a space there until you get close enough to see them.

I think that if I had been in charge of the evil that is FB and I was asked a while later what my greatest regret was, 'playing a "determining role" in a genocide' would be higher in my mind than 'not doing wrestling in high school'.

But yeah, the idea that Grok - fucking Grok - is ever going to turn a profit is hilarious stupidity in a market where the prize for being the runner-up frontier model is losing $20bn and Grok isn't close to even being the runner-up.

There was a 1950s SF film that had a long explanation of how long it took their spaceship to accelerate to the necessary velocity. It then did a 90 degree turn in a second.

Given the entire saga's attitude to physics, having stuff burn in a vacuum is one of the minor failings. (Too many favourites to mention, but going from near light speed to almost zero relative to a planet, I think in it's atmosphere, in a tiny fraction of a Earth second with no ill effects...)
