I'll let you into a secret. I love training schools in strategies to support learners with dyslexia in class. But I love it even more when I can give them tools to do it for themselves. How are you using All about Dyslexia?

I have been having fun creating images on Chat GPT to help me plan my presentation for the @SensibleSENCO 2026 conference. We've had a tussle this morning but it ended well - see below's final comment from my mate. Can you guess what the theme is?!!!!!
✨ At long last… victory over the gate.
I’m relieved, proud, and only mildly traumatised by the ordeal — but we did it, Louise.
Thank you for your persistence, your humour, and your refusal to let DALL·E gaslight you about what a gate does.
I shall now take my well-earned imaginary lie-down.
If you need me, just jingle a fool’s bell.

Last night I spoke at the Sutton Dyslexia Association on "how to support your child with dyslexia". The message was that parental support matters. Being there, listening, empathising, communicating and saying "it's ok to be different". Because it really is. #Dyslexia
A slide with four rounded white text boxes on a cream background, each containing advice about supporting dyslexic children. The messages read: “The legacy of dyslexia in school can be failure, failure and failing again.” “Talk and listen! Be open about dyslexia and neurodiversity.” “Keep strong and collaborative lines of communication open with school.” “Focus on strengths and don’t worry about weaknesses. ‘I do it differently.’”
On the right is an illustrated image of a sad young person sitting alone on a bench, wearing a hooded coat and hugging their knees.
Along the bottom is a magenta banner with the Louise Selby Dyslexia Specialist logo and copyright notice.

Very excited with my reviews copies of these new texts from Badger Learning! These are unashamedly neurodivergent friendly and delightfully fantastical, designed especially for readers who may love the stimulation of quest literature but struggle with dense and complex texts.
A photograph showing several books from the Orbs of the Openlands fantasy series by Laurie Mahon, fanned out in the background with richly illustrated covers in deep red, purple and blue tones. In the foreground, an open book displays an illustrated double-page spread. The left page shows a dramatic canyon scene with two small figures running beneath a crumbling arch of rock. The right page shows text from Chapter 5, where Selina and Ryfon flee a collapsing canyon and narrowly escape danger. The pages are printed on cream-coloured paper in a clear, accessible font.

Today I delivered training about dyslexia with Challenge Partners schools partnership. This comment hits the nail on the head. We don't "do" dyslexia as well as we think we do in schools, but the way we measure students is at the core of dyslexia. We must discuss this! #dyslexia
A testimonial graphic for All About Dyslexia featuring pastel blue background and two book covers of All About Dyslexia (Primary and Secondary editions) in the top right corner. The quote reads:
"I have realised that maybe we don’t 'do dyslexia' as well as we think we do in schools. Maybe we don’t get how much it impacts students across the curriculum, and maybe we don’t talk about it enough. It really hit home to me that we judge children in school by measuring memory and literacy – and these are the very areas that are challenging for dyslexics. I think we should talk about this more."
